Thingi10K: A Dataset of 10,000 3D-Printing Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Empirically validating new 3D-printing related algorithms and implementations requires testing data representative of inputs encountered \emph{in the wild}. An ideal benchmarking dataset should not only draw from the same distribution of shapes people print in terms of class (e.g., toys, mechanisms, jewelry), representation type (e.g., triangle soup ...

Contactless and absolute linear displacement detection based upon 3D printed magnets combined with passive radio-frequency identification

open access: yes, 2017
Within this work a passive and wireless magnetic sensor, to monitor linear displacements is proposed. We exploit recent advances in 3D printing and fabricate a polymer bonded magnet with a spatially linear magnetic field component corresponding to the ...

Pharmacy 3D printing

open access: yesBiofabrication
Abstract A significant limitation of the ‘one size fits all’ medication approach is the lack of consideration for special population groups. 3D printing technology has revolutionised the landscape of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy practice, playing an integral role in enabling on-demand production of customised medication.

Enhanced Mechanical Properties of Injectable Chitosan–Guar Gum Hydrogel Reinforced with Bacterial Cellulose Nanofibers for Tissue Engineering Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the development and characterization of injectable nanocomposite hydrogels based on N‐succinyl chitosan, oxidized guar gum, and bacterial cellulose nanofibers. Emphasizing enhanced mechanical properties and biocompatibility, the hydrogels exhibit fast gelation, improved structural integrity, and reduced swelling. Their potential for

Watermark retrieval from 3D printed objects via synthetic data training [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We present a deep neural network based method for the retrieval of watermarks from images of 3D printed objects. To deal with the variability of all possible 3D printing and image acquisition settings we train the network with synthetic data. The main simulator parameters such as texture, illumination and camera position are dynamically randomized in ...

Shape Memory Polymer‐Based Hook‐and‐Loop Fastener for Robust Bonding and on‐Demand Easy Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D shape memory polymer‐based hook‐and‐loop fastener, fabricated using projection microstereolithography and molding, offers tunable bonding strength through temperature control. When heated from 25 to 70 °C, the fastener softens and deforms easily, reducing bonding strength by 20‐fold for on‐demand easy separation.

All‐dielectric circularly polarised loop antenna made of high‐permittivity ceramic/water

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation
A kind of all‐dielectric circularly polarised (CP) loop antenna made of high‐permittivity material is proposed. The leaky‐wave radiation from a high‐permittivity dielectric waveguide is utilised here to support the operation of the proposed antenna.
