Rheocasting versus Die Casting: An Insight into the Low‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of AlSi7Mg0.6

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study compares rheocast lightweight components with high‐pressure die cast materials regarding microstructure and fatigue behavior. Rheocast process offers higher efficiency due to lower casting temperatures. Despite some microstructural differences, both processes show similar strengths (yield strength 125 MPa, tensile strength 240 MPa).

C3DGS: Compressing 3D Gaussian Model for Surface Reconstruction of Large-Scale Scenes Based on Multiview UAV Images

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Methods based on 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) for surface reconstruction face challenges when applied to large-scale scenes captured by UAV. Because the number of 3D Gaussians increases dramatically, leading to significant computational requirement and ...

End-to-end 3D face reconstruction with deep neural networks

open access: yes, 2017
Monocular 3D facial shape reconstruction from a single 2D facial image has been an active research area due to its wide applications. Inspired by the success of deep neural networks (DNN), we propose a DNN-based approach for End-to-End 3D FAce ...

Echo-Reconstruction: Audio-Augmented 3D Scene Reconstruction

open access: yes, 2021
Reflective and textureless surfaces such as windows, mirrors, and walls can be a challenge for object and scene reconstruction. These surfaces are often poorly reconstructed and filled with depth discontinuities and holes, making it difficult to cohesively reconstruct scenes that contain these planar discontinuities.

Non-Scanning Three-Dimensional Imaging System with a Single-Pixel Detector: Simulation and Experimental Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Existing scanning laser three-dimensional (3D) imaging technology has slow measurement speed. In addition, the measurement accuracy of non-scanning laser 3D imaging technology based on area array detectors is limited by the resolution and response ...

OctNetFusion: Learning Depth Fusion from Data

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we present a learning based approach to depth fusion, i.e., dense 3D reconstruction from multiple depth images. The most common approach to depth fusion is based on averaging truncated signed distance functions, which was originally ...

Fabrication of Multifunctional FeSi Gyroid Lattice Composites via Additive Manufacturing and Polymer Infiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐step approach combining laser powder bed fusion of FeSi electrical steel with Bakelite infiltration enables the fabrication of multifunctional gyroid lattice composites. The resulting structures exhibit high strength, magnetic anisotropy, and complete polymer infiltration, demonstrating a simple and scalable route toward lightweight, mechanically

Extreme 3D Face Reconstruction: Seeing Through Occlusions

open access: yes, 2018
Existing single view, 3D face reconstruction methods can produce beautifully detailed 3D results, but typically only for near frontal, unobstructed viewpoints.

3DGSR: Implicit Surface Reconstruction with 3D Gaussian Splatting [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Graphics
In this paper, we present an implicit surface reconstruction method with 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), namely 3DGSR, that allows for accurate 3D reconstruction with intricate details while inheriting the high efficiency and rendering quality of 3DGS. The
