ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Live feedback and 3D photoacoustic remote sensing
As photoacoustic (PA) techniques progress towards clinical adoption, providing a high-speed live feedback becomes a high priority. To keep up with the instantaneous optical feedback of conventional light microscopes, PA imaging would need to provide a high-resolution video-rate live feed to the user. However, conventional PA microscopy typically trades

Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Piecewise-Planar 3D Reconstruction in Rate-Distortion Sense [PDF]
In this paper, a novel rate-distortion optimization inspired 3D piecewise-planar reconstruction algorithm is proposed. The algorithm refines a coarse 3D triangular mesh, by inserting vertices in a way to minimize the intensity difference between an image and its prediction. The preliminary experiments on synthetic and real data indicate the validity of

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

A status quo in aerial photogrammetric mapping [PDF]
Aerial photogrammetric 3D mapping refers to the process of capturing overlapping imagery - and increasingly, LiDAR data - via aerial platforms such as unmanned and manned aircraft, followed by computational processing to generate precise 3D ...

Coverage and Connectivity in Three-Dimensional Networks
Most wireless terrestrial networks are designed based on the assumption that the nodes are deployed on a two-dimensional (2D) plane. However, this 2D assumption is not valid in underwater, atmospheric, or space communications. In fact, recent interest in
