3D shape retrieval using viewpoint information‐theoretic measures

open access: yesComputer Animation and Virtual Worlds, 2013
AbstractIn this paper, we present an information‐theoretic framework to compute the shape similarity between 3D polygonal models. Given a 3D model, an information channel between a sphere of viewpoints around the model and its polygonal mesh is defined to compute the specific information associated with each viewpoint.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

High Speed 3D Shape Measurement with Temporal Fourier Transform Profilometry

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
A novel high-speed 3D shape measurement technology called temporal Fourier transform profilometry (TFTP for short) is proposed by combining the merits of Fourier transform profilometry (FTP) and phase-measuring profilometry (PMP).

Three-Dimensional Measurement and Three-Dimensional Printing of Giant Coastal Rocks

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2021
In recent years, the use of three-dimensional (3D) measurement and printing technologies has become an effective means of analyzing and reproducing both physical and natural objects, regardless of size.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

A Photometric Stereo Using Re-Projected Images for Active Stereo Vision System

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
In optical 3D shape measurement, stereo vision with structured light can measure 3D scan data with high accuracy and is used in many applications, but fine surface detail is difficult to obtain.

High dynamic range real-time 3D shape measurement

open access: yesOptics Express, 2016
This paper proposes a method that can measure high-contrast surfaces in real-time without changing camera exposures. We propose to use 180-degree phase-shifted (or inverted) fringe patterns to complement regular fringe patterns. If not all of the regular patterns are saturated, inverted fringe patterns are used in lieu of original saturated patterns ...
