Learning to Grasp 3D Objects using Deep Residual U-Nets [PDF]

open access: yes2020 29th IEEE International Conference on Robot and Human Interactive Communication (RO-MAN), 2020
Grasp synthesis is one of the challenging tasks for any robot object manipulation task. In this paper, we present a new deep learning-based grasp synthesis approach for 3D objects. In particular, we propose an end-to-end 3D Convolutional Neural Network to predict the objects' graspable areas.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Priority U-Net: Detection of Punctuate White Matter Lesions in Preterm Neonate in 3D Cranial Ultrasonography priority u-Net for detection of pwml in preterm 3d Cranial Ultrasonography

open access: yes, 2020
International audienceAbout 18-35% of the preterm infants suffer from punctuate white matter lesion (PWML). Accurately assessing the volume and localisation of these lesions at the early postnatal phase can help paediatricians adapting the therapeutic ...

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Computed tomography-based automated measurement of abdominal aortic aneurysm using semantic segmentation with active learning

open access: yesScientific Reports
Accurate measurement of abdominal aortic aneurysm is essential for selecting suitable stent-grafts to avoid complications of endovascular aneurysm repair. However, the conventional image-based measurements are inaccurate and time-consuming.

Deep Learning for Automated Contouring of Gross Tumor Volumes in Esophageal Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
PurposeThe aim of this study was to propose and evaluate a novel three-dimensional (3D) V-Net and two-dimensional (2D) U-Net mixed (VUMix-Net) architecture for a fully automatic and accurate gross tumor volume (GTV) in esophageal cancer (EC)–delineated ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

An Automated Deep Learning Approach for Spine Segmentation and Vertebrae Recognition Using Computed Tomography Images

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
Spine image analysis is based on the accurate segmentation and vertebrae recognition of the spine. Several deep learning models have been proposed for spine segmentation and vertebrae recognition, but they are very computationally demanding.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.
