An Overview of Research in 3DTV [PDF]

open access: yes2007 14th International Workshop on Systems, Signals and Image Processing and 6th EURASIP Conference focused on Speech and Image Processing, Multimedia Communications and Services, 2007
3DTV is regarded by the experts and the general public as the next major step in video technologies. The ghost-like images of remote persons or objects are already depicted in many futuristic movies; both entertainment applications, as well as 3D video telephony, are among the commonly imagined utilizations of such a technology.

Deep Depth Completion of a Single RGB-D Image

open access: yes, 2018
The goal of our work is to complete the depth channel of an RGB-D image. Commodity-grade depth cameras often fail to sense depth for shiny, bright, transparent, and distant surfaces.

Visual Comfort Assessment for Stereoscopic Image Retargeting

open access: yes, 2018
In recent years, visual comfort assessment (VCA) for 3D/stereoscopic content has aroused extensive attention. However, much less work has been done on the perceptual evaluation of stereoscopic image retargeting.

Temporal consistent depth map upscaling for 3DTV

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2014
The ongoing success of three-dimensional (3D) cinema fuels increasing efforts to spread the commercial success of 3D to new markets. The possibilities of a convincing 3D experience at home, such as three-dimensional television (3DTV), has generated a great deal of interest within the research and standardization community.

3DTV rendering from multiple cameras

open access: yes2009 3DTV Conference: The True Vision - Capture, Transmission and Display of 3D Video, 2009
In this paper we present a framework for the rendering of scenes for 3DTV applications. The goal of our work is to investigate ways to generate virtual views of a scene captured using a relatively small number of real cameras. The approach adopted uses per-pixel operations and therefore is suitable for fast parallel implementation.
