Carbon Nanotube‐Reinforced Rubber Nanocomposites: A Comparison of Simplified and Commercial Formulations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 142, Issue 48, December 20, 2025.
Schematic illustration of the influence of carbon nanotube addition on the mechanical behavior of simplified and commercial rubber formulations. ABSTRACT Improving the performance of materials that already possess excellent mechanical properties is one of the most persistent challenges in materials engineering.

Synthesis of Aldehyde Functional Polydimethylsiloxane as a New Precursor for Aliphatic Imine‐Based Self‐Healing PDMS

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 46, Issue 23, December 5, 2025.
A simple synthetic route to aldehyde functional poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) through oxidative C─C bond cleavage of terminal epoxide functions by periodic acid is developed. The obtained polymer is introduced as a precursor in the synthesis of aliphatic imine‐based self‐healing PDMS in the form of supramolecular networks or covalent adaptable networks.

Precision in Rubber Seal Lifetime Prediction: The Critical Role of Aspect Ratio

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, Volume 65, Issue 12, Page 6781-6797, December 2025.
This study examines how specimen geometry affects rubber seal aging predictions. We examine NBR and EPDM samples with varying aspect ratios (AR) under thermo‐oxidative conditions. Analysis includes indentation modulus, hardness, crosslink density, and calorimetric analyses. Results reveal how aspect ratio influences aging behavior.

Thermo‐Mechanical Evaluation of Novel Composite Propellant Formulations Based on Styrene‐Ethylene/Butylene‐Styrene Block Copolymer

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, Volume 50, Issue 11-12, Page 117-126, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Two novel composite propellant formulations have previously been produced from a binder consisting of the thermoplastic elastomer styrene‐ethylene/butylene‐styrene (SEBS) and a solid filler, either ammonium perchlorate (AP) or 1,3,5‐trinitro‐1,3,5‐triazinane (RDX).

Recent Advances in Ene Reactions with Carbon Enophiles

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 367, Issue 22, November 28, 2025.
Recent advances in the classical intra‐ and intermolecular ene nexus with carbon enophiles (alkenes, alkynes, arynes, and allenes) show a considerable increase in structural complexity and an enormous potential for functional applications in polymer science.

Polybutadiene Modification of Brown Grease‐Sulfur Materials

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 63, Issue 22, Page 4740-4747, 15 November 2025.
Composites from brown grease and elemental sulfur, reinforced with polybutadiene. ABSTRACT High sulfur‐content materials (HSMs) prepared via inverse vulcanization are attractive for a range of sustainable material applications, particularly when synthesized from waste‐derived feedstocks such as brown grease (BG).

Space shuttle nonmetallic materials age life prediction [PDF]

open access: yes
The chemiluminescence from samples of polybutadiene, Viton, Teflon, Silicone, PL 731 Adhesive, and SP 296 Boron-Epoxy composite was measured at temperatures from 25 to 150 C. Excellent correlations were obtained between chemiluminescence and temperature.
