Abstract The compositional evolution of the Earth's mantle is the result of mantle differentiation and thermal evolution. Partial melting of mantle materials produces geochemical heterogeneities, allows for degassing and depends on the thermal state of the mantle, itself governed by convection.

Abstract The flux of solar system meteoroids is dominated by objects less than 1 mm in diameter whose impact effects play a major role in the space weathering of airless body surfaces. These effects remain poorly characterized with respect to their dependence on the range of impact speeds for meteoroids across the inner solar system.

Abstract Habitability of super‐Earths likely requires self‐sustained magnetic fields to shield their atmospheres from stellar forcing. Extreme pressures and temperatures probably produce a long‐lived basal magma ocean (BMO), a potential source for these fields.

Electromagnetic transitions between odd parity states in 40K
Abstract Lifetimes of twelve levels in 40 K up to 2.63 MeV excitation have been measured. Effective moments and charges and configuration mixing are deduced from a shell model analysis of the transition rates between eight odd-parity states with comparatively simple particle-hole structure.
