Drelów, the 13th and latest meteorite fall in Poland—A typical L6 chondrite with shock veins
Abstract On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 18:04:14 local time, residents of Poland observed a bright fireball registered by many Polish fireball stations belonging to the Skytinel Network established a few months before by Mateusz Żmija. Thus, the meteoroid's orbit, atmospheric trajectory, and the strewn field were calculated, and over 70 fragments ...

A metastable state at 1.64 MeV in 40K
Abstract The mean lifetime of the 1.64 MeV level in 40 K has been measured as 0.49 ± 0.01 μ s, and its decay scheme determined. From the results it is argued that the most probable spin and parity for the level are J π = 0 + . The experiment simultaneously yielded a value of 0.63 ± 0.02 μ s for the mean lifetime of the first excited state of

Al‐Khadhaf: The first camera‐observed (H5–6) meteorite fall from Oman
Abstract A fireball camera system installed in 2022 by the Oman Meteorite Monitoring Project (OMMP) as part of the Global Fireball Observatory (GFO) recorded a 3.2 s fireball on March 8, 2022 at 8:15 p.m. UTC. A meteoroid of 4 ± 2 kg entered the atmosphere at 14.0 km/s.

Radionuclide concentration in cabbage samples due to gamma radiation in Samsun, Turkey
Establishing of radioactivity planes in foodstuff has emphasis because it allows the evaluation of population exposure to radiation by take nourishment. In this paper, the activity concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th, 40K and 137Cs were determined in cabbage ...

Assessment of radiological risk in the area around surface disposal at Al -Tuwaitha site
The gamma dose rates and specific activity of 137Cs, 60Co and 40K in samples of soil taken from places near the landfill radiation at Al- Tuwaitha site were measured using a portable NaI(Tl) detector.

40K-39K ratio of cubic diamond from Zaire.
No anomaly was observed in the isotopic composition of potassium in the Zaire cubic diamonds, which show a K-Ar isochron-like relationship corresponding to 6.0 Gyr (Zashu et al., 1986).

Biological effects of background radiation: mutagenicity of 40K.
The naturally occurring radioactive isotope 40K is the single largest contributor to the internal background radiation dose in living organisms. We examined cell growth and mutation rate or frequency in several strains of Escherichia coli in (i) media containing the natural content of 40K, (ii) media containing potassium from which essentially all of ...
