Routing Optimization of Cable‐Driven Octopus‐Inspired Manipulators With Minimal Actuation via Genetic Algorithm and Finite Element Method

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Soft robotic arms are promising for gentle grasping but often rely on bulky actuation systems. This work presents a computational design framework that optimizes tendon number and routing to achieve target grasps with fewer actuators. Validated on an octopus‐inspired underwater arm, the approach enables efficient, underactuated soft manipulators for ...

Retinal Vessel Segmentation: A Comprehensive Review From Classical Methods to Deep Learning Advances (1982–2025)

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Four decades of retinal vessel segmentation research (1982–2025) are synthesized, spanning classical image processing, machine learning, and deep learning paradigms. A meta‐analysis of 428 studies establishes a unified taxonomy and highlights performance trends, generalization capabilities, and clinical relevance.

Two years and counting: The dynamics of long‐term youth mentoring and association with parent and peer relationships

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract The current study seeks to explore the reciprocal associations between mentor–mentee relationship strength and relationships with parents and peers across 2 years of mentoring. It is a secondary analysis of data collected by a national mentoring organization from youth (N = 1368; M age = 11.5 years; 59% female; White [n = 629], 30% Black [n ...

BNB/NBN‐Phenalenyl‐2'‐deoxyuridines as a Fluorophore–Quencher Pair in DNA

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Two BN‐chromophore‐extended nucleosides containing electronically complementary BNB‐ and NBN‐doped phenalenyls were synthesised and incorporated into deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) oligonucleotides. These chromophores act as an efficient fluorophore–quencher pair under aqueous conditions.
