PFAS Exposure and Postoperative Weight Regain in Adolescents After Bariatric Surgery: Findings From the Teen-LABS Study. [PDF]
Elevated baseline PFAS levels, particularly PFOS, PFHxS, and PFHpS, were associated with greater BMI regain, reduced weight loss, and increased waist circumference in adolescents after bariatric surgery. These sulfonic acid PFAS showed a dose‐dependent effect on BMI regain.

Impact of Yeast Types on Quality Characteristics and Storage Stability of Industrial Kefir. [PDF]
Kefir is a fermented dairy product that contains many types of lactic acid bacteria and different types of yeast. Due to the CO2 released as a result of the fermentation of yeast, deformities and swelling occur in the packaging of the products, which creates a problem because it is perceived as damaged by consumers.

Getting credit for proactivity? The effects of gender
Abstract With our research, we contribute to the research on proactive work behavior in two ways. First, we examine a person's gender as a boundary condition for proactive behavior at work. Based on social role theory, we argue that women are less likely to receive credit for showing personal initiative (PI) than men.

Sodium ions in sodium silicate glasses have a strong preference to bond to four non‐bridging oxygens, and they also bond to a smaller number of bridging oxygens. Na‐NBO bonds are more widely distributed than Na–BO bonds, extending to shorter and longer distances. Abstract It is shown that modeling the first oxygen‐oxygen peak in the neutron correlation

Behavioural biometrics: Using smartphone keyboard activity as a proxy for rest–activity patterns
Summary Rest–activity patterns are important aspects of healthy sleep and may be disturbed in conditions like circadian rhythm disorders, insomnia, insufficient sleep syndrome, and neurological disorders. Long‐term monitoring of rest–activity patterns is typically performed with diaries or actigraphy.

Abstract The catch of large quantities of sublegal‐sized fish and shrimp is a pervasive feature of bottom trawl fisheries, particularly in the Mediterranean demersal mixed fisheries where regulations traditionally allow small mesh sizes. To address these concerns, two bottom trawl net selectivity trials were carried out in 2019 and 2020 on fishing ...

Transient behavior of a parametric amplifier with an added fourth-order interaction [PDF]
8 págs.; 13 figs.; PACS number(s): 42.50.Dv, 42.65.Ky, 42.50.MdThe dynamical properties of an optical parametric amplifier with an added fourth-order (Kerr-effect term) nonlinearity are studied by means of a computer simulation of a semiclassical ...

Strong squeezing via phonon mediated spontaneous generation of photon pairs
We propose a scheme for generating squeezed light by using a double-cavity optomechanical system driven by a blue detuned laser in one cavity and by a red detuned laser in the other.
