Code generation approaches for parallel geometric multigrid solvers

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2020
Software development for applications in computational science and engineering has become complex in recent years. This is mainly due to the increasing parallelism and heterogeneity in modern computer architectures and to the more realistic physical and ...

Amenability and coamenability of algebraic quantum groups

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 31, Issue 10, Page 577-601, 2002., 2002
We define concepts of amenability and coamenability for algebraic quantum groups in the sense of Van Daele (1998). We show that coamenability of an algebraic quantum group always implies amenability of its dual. Various necessary and/or sufficient conditions for amenability or coamenability are obtained.

Analysis of the energy decay of a viscoelasticity type equation

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2016
In this paper, we study the evolution of the energy density of a sequence of solutions of a problem related to a viscoelasticity model where the viscosity term is a pseudo-differential operator of order 2α with α ∈ (0, 1).

New aspects in polygroup theory

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2020
The aim of this paper is to compute the commutativity degree in polygroup’s theory, more exactly for the polygroup PG and for extension of polygroups by polygroups, obtaining boundaries for them.

Completely positive linear operators for Banach spaces

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 17, Issue 1, Page 27-30, 1994., 1992
Using ideas of Pisier, the concept of complete positivity is generalized in a different direction in this paper, where the Hilbert space ℋ is replaced with a Banach space and its conjugate linear dual. The extreme point results of Arveson are reformulated in this more general setting.

A remark on the slice map problem

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 17, Issue 2, Page 401-404, 1994., 1993
It is shown that there exist a σ‐weakly closed operator algebra , generated by finite rank operators and a σ‐weakly closed operator algebra generated by compact operators such that the Fubini product contains properly .

Extremal problems for completely positive maps

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 17, Issue 3, Page 607-608, 1994., 1993
In this note, we study the faces of some convex subsets of CPc(A, B(ℋ))(the continuous completely positive linear maps from pro‐C*‐algebra A to B(ℋ)).

K-theory for C*-algebras: The hexagonal exact sequence

open access: yes, 2020
The aim of this work is to introduce the reader to C*-algebraic K-theory whilst proving two of its main known results: Bott periodicity and the hexagonal exact sequence.

Separable injectivity and C*‐tensor products

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 14, Issue 1, Page 139-147, 1991., 1991
Let A and B be C*‐algebras and let D be a C*‐subalgebra of B. We show that if D is separably injective then the triple (A, B, D) verifies the slice map conjecture. As an application, we prove that the minimal C*‐tensor product A ⊗ B is separably injective if and only if both A and B are separably injective and either A or B is finite‐dimensional.
