Abstract Reports emanating from various gynecologic clinics have proved that vaginal hysterectomy is an operation with a very low morbidity and mortality. In many large series ranging from 600 to 2,000 cases, the percentage of mortalities has varied from 0.0 per cent to 3.2 per cent; but the majority have been a fraction of 1 per cent.
