Periodic Radio Variability in NRAO 530: Phase Dispersion Minimization Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, a periodicity analysis of the radio light curves of the blazar NRAO 530 at 14.5, 8.0, and 4.8 GHz is presented employing an improved Phase Dispersion Minimization (PDM) technique. The result, which shows two persistent periodic components of $ \sim 6$ and $ \sim 10$ years at all three frequencies, is consistent with the results obtained ...

Space VLBI Observations Show $T_b > 10^{12} K$ in the Quasar NRAO 530 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We present here space-based VLBI observations with VSOP and a southern hemisphere ground array of the gamma-ray blazar NRAO 530 at 1.6 GHz and 5 GHz. The brightness temperature of the core at 1.6 GHz is $5 \times 10^{11}$ K. The size is near the minimum observable value in the direction of NRAO~530 due to interstellar scattering.

Conversion of neutron stars to strange stars as the central engine of gamma-ray bursts [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J. 530 (2000) L69, 2000
We study the conversion of a neutron star to a strange star as a possible energy source for gamma-ray bursts. We use different recent models for the equation of state of neutron star matter and strange quark matter. We show that the total amount of energy liberated in the conversion is in the range of (1-4) 10^{53} ergs (one order of magnitude larger ...

A transient inflammatory response contributes to oxaliplatin neurotoxicity in mice

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 9, Issue 12, Page 1985-1998, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objectives Peripheral neuropathy is a relevant dose‐limiting adverse event that can affect up to 90% of oncologic patients with colorectal cancer receiving oxaliplatin treatment. The severity of neurotoxicity often leads to dose reduction or even premature cessation of chemotherapy.

The Event Horizon Telescope Image of the Quasar NRAO 530

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Abstract We report on the observations of the quasar NRAO 530 with the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) on 2017 April 5−7, when NRAO 530 was used as a calibrator for the EHT observations of Sagittarius A*. At z = 0.902, this is the most distant object imaged by the EHT so far.

Characteristics of VHF radiowave scintillations over a solar cycle (1983−1993) at a low-latitude station: Waltair (17.7°N, 83.3°E) [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 1997
The characteristics of VHF radiowave scintillations at 244 MHz (FLEETSAT) during a complete solar cycle (1983–93) at a low-latitude station, Waltair (17.7°N, 83.3°E), are presented.

VHF and L-band scintillation characteristics over an Indian low latitude station, Waltair (17.7° N, 83.3° E) [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2005
Characteristics of simultaneous VHF (244 MHz) and L-band (1.5 GHz) scintillations recorded at a low-latitude station, Waltair (17.7° N, 83.3° E), during the low sunspot activity year of March 2004 to March 2005, suggest that the occurrence of ...
