Radio Pulsar Death Line Revisited: Is PSR J2144-3933 Anomalous? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We reinvestigate the radio pulsar ``death lines'' within the framework of two different types of polar cap acceleration models, i.e., the vacuum gap model and the space-charge-limited flow model, with either curvature radiation or inverse Compton ...

An Advanced High‐Performance Ultrafast Ammonium‐Ion Aqueous Battery Based on Dual‐Metal Redox Open Framework Molecular Magnet

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Prussian Blue Analogue molecular magnet KMnFeHCF is demonstrated as a high‐performance cathode for ultra‐fast aqueous ammonium‐ion batteries. A full cell using KMnFeHCF and graphite delivers ~71 mAh g−1 at 1.25 A g−1 and ~51 mAh g−1 at 2.2 A g−1, retaining 50% capacity after 1850 cycles. Its scalability, cycling stability, and low cost offer strong

Cloning of multicopper oxidase gene from Ochrobactrum sp. 531 and characterization of its alkaline laccase activity towards phenolic substrates

open access: yes, 2012
A 1602 bp fragment was cloned from a soil bacterium Ochrobactrum sp. 531. It contained an open reading frame (ORF) of 1092 bp which was identified as a multicopper oxidase (MCO) with potential laccase activity.

Valence‐Engineering of CeO2 Redox Modulator Boosts the Oxygen Electrocatalysis Performance in Fe/Co Dual‐Atom Catalyst

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Valence‐engineering of CeO2 redox modulator can remove the highly oxidative by‐products and accelerate the oxidation state transitions of Co/Fe centers in FeCo dual‐atom catalyst during oxygen reduction/evolution electrocatalysis. Therefore, the stability and activity issues are resolved, significantly enhancing the overall performance when used as an ...

Complications after medullary thyroid carcinoma surgery: multicentre study of the SQRTPA and EUROCRINE® databases

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
This study investigated postoperative complications after surgery for medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in Europe. Hypoparathyroidism, recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy and bleeding requiring reoperation occurred in 170 (26·2 per cent), 62 (13·7 per cent) and 17 (2·6 per cent) patients respectively.

A Mini‐Spidroin Forms High‐Performance Artificial Spider Silk via Edge‐Cysteine–Locked β‐Sheet Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cysteine‐engineered mini‐spidroins (∼33 kDa) undergo phosphate‐induced liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS), where disulfide bonds lock partially aligned polyA segments. Subsequent microfluidic spinning promotes directional β‐sheet crystallization, producing fibers with 531 MPa strength and 182 MJ/m3 toughness.

GhWRKY75 positively regulates GhPR6-5b via binding to a W-box TTGAC (C/T) to orchestrate cotton resistance to Verticillium dahliae

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture
Verticillium dahliae is an important fungal pathogen affecting cotton yield and quality. Therefore, the mining of V. dahlia-resistance genes is urgently needed. Proteases and protease inhibitors play crucial roles in plant defense responses. However, the
