A topological exploration of convergence/divergence of human‐mediated and algorithmically mediated pedagogy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Educational Technology, EarlyView.
We explore a topological model that situates teachers' agency as a constituent element within the convergent and divergent dynamics at the intersection of human‐mediated and algorithmically mediated pedagogies. Ubiquitous AI in education is designed to simulate, emulate and automate human processes and behaviours through datafication.

Iron overload in hereditary spherocytosis: Are genetic factors the cause?

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Non‐transfusional iron overload (IOL) in hereditary spherocytosis (HS) is poorly documented compared with other red blood cell disorders. We studied 13 HS adults with confirmed IOL to identify potential genetic factors. Using a next‐generation sequencing panel of 46 genes related to HS, anaemia and iron metabolism, we found no association ...

Late‐Holocene evolution of a small Sub‐Arctic glacier, Gljúfurárjökull (Tröllaskagi, northern Iceland)

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Gljúfurárjökull, located on the Tröllaskagi Peninsula in northern Iceland, is a small glacier approximately 3.8 km in length. This study analyses the glacier's evolution through a combination of methods including: (i) geomorphological mapping, (ii) Cosmic‐Ray Exposure (CRE) dating, (iii) lichenometry and (iv) palaeoglacier reconstruction (volume ...
