Proper actions and proper invariant metrics
We show that if a (locally compact) group $G$ acts properly on a locally compact $\sigma$-compact space $X$ then there is a family of $G$-invariant proper continuous finite-valued pseudometrics which induces the topology of $X$.

The definable content of homological invariants II: Čech cohomology and homotopy classification
This is the second installment in a series of papers applying descriptive set theoretic techniques to both analyze and enrich classical functors from homological algebra and algebraic topology.

A note on free paratopological groups [PDF]
In this paper, we mainly discuss some generalized metric properties and the character of the free paratopological groups, and extend several results valid for free topological groups to free paratopological groups.Comment: 12 ...

A Whiteheadian-type description of Euclidean spaces, spheres, tori and Tychonoff cubes [PDF]
In the beginning of the 20th century, A. N. Whitehead and T. de Laguna proposed a new theory of space, known as {\em region-based theory of space}. They did not present their ideas in a detailed mathematical form. In 1997, P.

Isometry groups of proper metric spaces
Given a locally compact Polish space X, a necessary and sufficient condition for a group G of homeomorphisms of X to be the full isometry group of (X,d) for some proper metric d on X is given.

A Note on Local Compactness [PDF]
We propose a categorical definition of locally-compact Hausdorff object which gives the right notion both, for topological spaces and for locales. Stability properties follow from easy categorical arguments.

On the representability of actions for topological algebras [PDF]
The actions of a group B on a group X correspond bijectively to the group homomorphisms B ⟶ Aut(X), proving that the functor “actions on X” is representable by the group of automorphisms of X.

Locally compact, $\omega_1$-compact spaces
An $\omega_1$-compact space is a space in which every closed discrete subspace is countable. We give various general conditions under which a locally compact, $\omega_1$-compact space is $\sigma$-countably compact, i.e., the union of countably many ...
