How Asian slum emissions impact local microclimates in polluted air masses
Cook stove emissions over urban sprawl in South India and expected microphysical implications. Combustion‐mediated soot and black carbon from biomass burning in shantytowns modulate the local cloud cover. Abstract Urban sprawl comprising densely populated slums over South Asian cities yields copious amounts of soot and black carbon from archaic cooking

Sr, Nd, and Pb isotope evidence for a mantle origin of alkali chlorides and carbonates in the Udachnaya kimberlite, Siberia [PDF]
The kimberlite rocks of the Udachnaya-East pipe (Siberia) are uniquely fresh and contain very high abundances of primary volatiles (Cl, CO2, S). Alkali elements and chlorine are extremely abundant in the reconstructed kimberlite melt compositions, and ...

Glacial geomorphology and postglacial landforms, derived from LiDAR‐based digital terrain models, together with radiocarbon‐dated sediment sequences, form the basis for landscape reconstruction spanning c. 2000 years (10,500–8500 cal. bp). After formation of streamlined terrain and ribbed moraine tracts followed intense glaciofluvial activity at ...

Aquatic‐Terrestrial Insecticide Fluxes: Midges as Neonicotinoid Vectors
Abstract Exposure of freshwater ecosystems to insecticides can negatively impact the development of emerging aquatic insects. These insects serve as an important nutritional subsidy for terrestrial insectivores. Changes in insect emergence phenology (i.e., emergence success and temporal pattern) or fluxes of insecticides retained by the emerging adults

A multicriteria decision analysis framework for developing and evaluating coastal retreat policy
Abstract Managed retreat may be a necessity for coastal communities as sea levels rise due to climate change. Selecting the right policy decisions and timing is difficult given the vested interests of communities and stakeholder groups and requires careful balancing of the benefits and risks associated with each management alternative.
