The550-au Mission: a critical discussion [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2003
We have studied the science rationale, goals and requirements for a mission aimed at using the gravitational lensing from the Sun as a way of achieving high angular resolution and high signal amplification. We find that such a mission concept is plagued by several practical problems. Most severe are the effects due to the plasma in the solar atmosphere

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Systemic Therapy for Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer—Current Landscape and Future Directions

open access: yesCurrent Oncology
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a significant cause of cancer-associated mortality, with a rising global incidence. A paucity of strong predictive risk factors mean screening programmes are difficult to implement.

Modeling and Control Design of the Symmetrical Interleaved Coupled-Inductor-Based Boost DC-DC Converter with Clamp Circuits

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
The symmetrical input-interleaved high-gain DC-DC converters are suitable candidates to be used as the first stage in PV microinverters and as parallel-connected power optimizers.

Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

EGFR‐STAT3 activation provides a therapeutic rationale for targeting aggressive ETV1‐positive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cotargeting EGFR and STAT3 with Erlotinib and TTI‐101 impairs both 2D and 3D growth of ETV1‐overexpressing prostate cancer cells by disrupting a self‐sustaining ETV1–EGFR positive feedback loop that promotes EGFR and STAT3 expression and phosphorylation (activation).

Detection of Non-Technical Losses on a Smart Distribution Grid Based on Artificial Intelligence Models

open access: yesEnergies
Non-technical losses (NTL) have been a growing problem over the years, causing significant financial losses for electric utilities. Among the methods for detecting this type of loss, those based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) have been the most popular.

The distribution of asteroids: evidence from Antarctic micrometeorites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The relative abundances of types amongst 550 AMMs are reported. These suggest that C-type asteroids vary from petrologic type 1 to 3.2 and that the majority of S-type asteroids are chondrule ...
