β-blocker eye drops affect ocular surface through β2 adrenoceptor of corneal limbal stem cells

open access: yesBMC Ophthalmology, 2021
Background Topical application of β-blocker eye drops induces damage to the ocular surface in clinical. However, the mechanism involved remains incompletely understood. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence and mechanism of β-blocker

Biosynthesis of phytases and phosphatases by Aspergillus niger 551

open access: yesAFRICAN JOURNAL OF BIOTECHNOLOGY, 2012
The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of the Aspergillus niger 551 strain to produce phytases and phosphatases in 24 days shake cultures at a pH adjusted to 5.5 and a changing (uncontrolled) pH, in a medium containing 0.5% of glucose and 4% of starch. The fermentation process of the culture performed with no adjustment of the pH showed

Immune checkpoint inhibitors for patients with advanced lung cancer and oncogenic driver alterations: results from the IMMUNOTARGET registry

open access: yesAnnals of Oncology, 2019
Background Anti-PD1/PD-L1 directed immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) are widely used to treat patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The activity of ICI across NSCLC harboring oncogenic alterations is poorly characterized. The aim of

Antimicrobial Profiling of Bacteria Isolated from Fish Sold at Informal Market in Mufakose, Zimbabwe

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, 2019
The number of infections caused by antibiotic resistant bacteria is rising worldwide. Fish from multisource pollution waters can harbour multidrug-resistant bacteria that can be disseminated to humans through eating or contact of contaminated fish.

Sur les espaces-temps homogenes [PDF]

open access: yesGeom. Topol. Monogr. 1 (1998), 551-576, 1998
Here, we classify Lie groups acting isometrically on compact Lorentz manifolds, and in particular we describe the geometric structure of compact homogeneous Lorentz manifolds.

The bibliometric analysis of scholarly production: How great is the impact?

open access: yesScientometrics, 2015
Bibliometric methods or “analysis” are now firmly established as scientific specialties and are an integral part of research evaluation methodology especially within the scientific and applied fields.

551 nm diode-laser-pumped upconversion laser

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1989
There have recently been several reports of visible upconversion lasers that are pumped by cw dye lasers.1,2 We report the first operation to our knowledge of an upconversion laser pumped by a semiconductor diode laser. Using a GaAlAs diode laser array as the pump source, upconversion lasing at 551 nm was observed in LiYF4:Er3+ (5%) at 41 K.

551 LEAN WEIGHT AS A FUNCTION OF BODY FAT [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1981
Several factors are known to influence the lean body mass, and these include the obese state. A review of our data on body composition (K-40 counting) for females of widely varying body fat content, including anorexia nervosa, reveals a most interesting relationship between the amounts of fat (F) and lean (L). The data nicely fit the equation L = a log
