A reliable intelligent routing mechanism in 5G core networks

Proceedings of the 26th Annual International Conference on Mobile Computing and Networking, 2020
One of the main goal of 5G networks is to provide ultra-reliable low latency service to users. When users keep accessing the system, the traffic in 5G core network (5GC) may be congested. Thus, we propose a load balance algorithm to select the best traffic data routing path based on the traffic loading in the 5GC.

Verification and Evaluation on 5G Multi-Operator Core Network

2021 International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing (IWCMC), 2021
Wider frequency bandwidth and massive MIMO are key features of 5G networks, and they will consume more energy from 5G base station. At the same time, in order to improve competitiveness, Mobile network operator (MNO) need to deploy more 5G base stations. Therefore, in the 5G era, MNO's operational expenditures (OPEX) will increase dramatically.

Challenges of 5G Networking in Access and Core Networks

2015
The 5th Generation wireless and mobile communication is expected to provide ultrahigh data rates over wireless in the range of Gbps. But 5G will also be about providing consistency and supporting Quality of Experience in a personalized manner. We foresee an evolution in terms of physical layer enhancements to provide increased data rates, whereas a ...

Monitoring 5G Core Networks Vulnerabilities With eBPF

IEEE Networking Letters
The current design of 5G Core Network (5G CN) adopts a cloud-native service-based architecture, where Network Functions (NFs) are exposed as services that can be dynamically composed and managed to achieve high flexibility. These NFs are interconnected via interfaces that Standardization Development Organizations (SDOs) like 3GPP have standardized. The

Revolutionary direction for 5G mobile core network architecture

2016 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC), 2016
It is expected that the emergence of new service scenarios driven by user needs beyond 2020 will be different from today. But current 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) network is not enough to fulfill arising new requirements because of fundamental problems in Evolved Packet Core (EPC), including centralized routing mechanism.
