Image of mathematics: A case study of two women's early mathematics experiences

open access: yesSchool Science and Mathematics, EarlyView.
Abstract People often view mathematics as abstract, cold, and irrelevant to real life, and their school experiences likely influence such views. In this case study, we investigated the mathematics experiences of two women who participated in an afterschool girls‐only STEM club 30 years ago when they were in fifth and sixth grades.

In vitro muscle contraction: A technical review on electrical pulse stimulation in C2C12 cells

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Electrical pulse stimulation (EPS) of skeletal muscle cells is increasingly used to model exercise In vitro. The murine C2C12 myotube system has become a common platform for such studies, yet wide variability in EPS protocols hampers reproducibility and cross‐study comparisons.

Determinants of maximal oxygen uptake in highly trained females and males: a mechanistic study of sex differences using advanced invasive methods

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The results from this study show that maximal cardiac output, stroke volume and leg blood flow are similar between highly trained females and males after normalisation to lean body mass (LBM). However, the 10% higher haemoglobin concentration ([Hb]) and arterial O2 content in males result in higher systemic and leg O2 delivery ...

Molecular evidence of domoic acid production in the high Arctic Qikiqtaaluk Region of Inuit Nunangat

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 6, November 2026.
Abstract Domoic acid, a neurotoxin produced by the diatom Pseudo‐nitzschia, is an increasing concern in Arctic marine environments. Shellfish harvesting occurs in many Canadian Arctic waterways in Inuit Nunangat and is the main vector for human domoic acid exposure, but most toxin monitoring has occurred in the Pacific Arctic region.
