Background – Hymenoptera envenomation with honey bee (Apis mellifera) and paper wasp (Polistes spp.) may cause life‐threatening anaphylaxis in dogs. In human patients, clinical history, intradermal testing (IDT) and measurement of allergen‐specific serological immunoglobulin (Ig)E (sIgE) are used to support a diagnosis of Hymenoptera venom ...

Applications of Stochastic Semigroups to Queueing Models
Non-markovian queueing systems can be extended to piecewise-deterministic Markov processes by appending supplementary variables to the system. Then their analysis leads to an infinite system of partial differential equations with an infinite number of ...

Multiscale Estimation of Cell Kinetics
We introduce a methodology based on the Luria–Delbrück fluctuation model for estimating the cell kinetics of clonally expanding populations. In particular, this approach allows estimation of the net cell proliferation rate, the extinction coefficient and the initial (viable) population size.

A model for a dynamic preventive maintenance policy
This paper exhibits a stochastic model which describes the evolution of a material submitted to inspections. When an inspection takes place, a decision depending on the observed state of the material is taken. If the material is in “not too bad” state, no service is rendered, only the date of the next inspection is chosen. If the material is in a “bad”

We study two‐parameter coordinate‐wise C0‐semigroups and their generators, as well as two‐parameter evolutions and differential equations up to the second order for them. These results are applied to obtain the Hille‐Yosida theorem for homogeneous Markov fields of the Feller type and to establish forward, backward, and mixed Kolmogorov equations for ...

We consider several norms on the span of the set C of all copulas. Dominance and equivalence relationships among the norms are discussed, and completeness issues are addressed. The motivation for the study is discussed. Applications to the study of one parameter semigroups of copulas are also addressed.

Some properties of the Feynman‐Kac functional
The Feynman‐Kac formula and its connections with classical analysis were initiated in the now celebrated paper [6] of M. Kac. It soon became obvious that the formula provides a powerful tool for solving partial differential equations by running the Brownian motion process. K.L. Chung and K.M.

On invariant measures of nonlinear Markov processes
We consider a nonlinear (in the sense of McKean) Markov process described by a stochastic differential equations in Rd. We prove the existence and uniqueness of invariant measures of such process.

All vital functions of living cells rely on the production of various functional molecules through gene expression. The production periods are burst-like and stochastic due to the discrete nature of biochemical reactions.
