Substrate‐Selective Inhibition of the SARS‐CoV‐2 Papain‐Like Protease: Inhibition of Hydrolysis of Human Over Viral Substrates

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The SARS‐CoV‐2 papain‐like protease (PLpro) is a medicinal chemistry target. Here we report mass spectrometry assays employing oligopeptide substrates based on the sequences of the viral polyproteins 1a/1ab and on an ISG15‐modified human protein, which enabled the identification of substrate‐selective PLpro inhibitors.

Defining Reconciliation Studies: Theoretical and Practical Dimensions

open access: yesConflict Resolution Quarterly, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Reconciliation studies (RS) has become increasingly influential in understanding alternative views to ending conflict and dealing with the aftermath. As a discipline or field, however, it is not well defined. The actual usefulness of reconciliation (as a concept), or of RS (as a discipline), is debated, and due to its growing usage, it is ...

Spatiotemporal cellular dynamics of the notochord shape intervertebral disc morphogenesis in the mouse embryo through apoptosis and proliferation

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The notochord is a midline structure essential for vertebrate embryogenesis, contributing to the development of the nervous system, digestive tract, and vertebral column. In particular, notochord signaling is indispensable for proper patterning and coordinated development of alternating vertebrae and intervertebral discs (IVDs ...

A Thermally Robust Luminescent Antimony Halide for Real‐Time Detection of Volatile Iodine at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
Zero‐dimensional antimony halides drive efficient iodine capture through electron transfer and display rapid fluorescence quenching at 75°C (348 K), establishing the first luminescent sensor for real‐time I2 detection at elevated temperatures. ABSTRACT Real‐time monitoring of volatile molecular iodine (I2), a hazardous radioactive byproduct of nuclear ...
