Synthesis, X-ray crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and DFT studies of (E)-N′-(2-bromobenzylidene)-4-methylbenzohydrazide

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2019
The title molecule, C15H13BrN2O, displays a trans configuration with respect to the C=N double bond. The dihedral angle between the bromo- and methyl-substituted benzene rings is 16.1 (3)°. In the crystal, molecules are connected by N—H...O and weak C—H..

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Crystal Engineering of Reticular Materials for Gas‐ and Liquid‐Phase Hydrocarbon Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Crystal engineering enables systematic study of structure/function relationships as exemplified by pore engineering of reticular sorbents, including porous coordination networks and covalent organic frameworks. This review assesses such studies applied across the full scope of industrially relevant hydrocarbon separations to provide insight into how ...

Best Proximity Points for Generalized Proximal Weak Contractions Satisfying Rational Expression on Ordered Metric Spaces

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2015
We introduce a generalized proximal weak contraction of rational type for the non-self-map and proved results to ensure the existence and uniqueness of best proximity point for such mappings in the setting of partially ordered metric spaces. Further, our

Self‐Assembled Inorganic Nanomembrane Tubes: Rolled‐Up Piezoelectrics for Microacoustic Wave‐Based Actuators and Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a self‐assembly process to generate free‐standing piezoelectric nanomembranes, forming ultracompact microtubular acoustic wave sensors and actuators. The miniaturized 3D piezoelectric platform reported in this work can be applied in telecommunication, energy harvesting, and acoustofluidics. Moreover, the 3D self‐assembly can add

Spin‐Split Edge States in Metal‐Supported Graphene Nanoislands Obtained by CVD

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Combining STM measurements and ab‐initio calculations, we show that zig‐zag edges in graphene nanoislands grown on Ni(111) by CVD retrieve their spin‐polarized edge states after intercalation of a few monolayers of Au. ABSTRACT Spin‐split states localized on zigzag edges have been predicted for different free‐standing graphene nanostructures.
