An environmental pollutant, 9,10‐phenanthrenequinone, activates human TRPA1 via critical cysteines 621 and 665

open access: yesPharmacology Research & Perspectives, 2017
Transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) is activated by noxious cold, mechanical stimulation, and irritant chemicals. In our recent study, 9, 10‐phenanthrenequinone (9,10‐PQ) is the most potent irritant for activation of NRF2 among 1395 cigarette ...

A Dichotomic Analysis of the Surprise Examination Paradox [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper presents a dichotomic analysis of the surprise examination paradox. In section 1, I analyse the surprise notion in detail. I introduce then in section 2, the distinction between a monist and dichotomic analysis of the paradox.

ZBTB21 Is a Dual Suppressor of Pyroptosis and MHC‐I Antigen Presentation That Promotes Tumor Immune Evasion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ZBTB21 is a transcription factor that epigenetically suppresses pyroptosis and MHC‐I antigen presentation, enabling tumor immune evasion. Genetic ablation of ZBTB21 activates pyroptotic cell death and enhances antigen presentation, recruiting CD8+ T cells to overcome immune checkpoint blockade resistance.

Synergistic Spin‐Polarization and Single‐Atom Engineering in Magnetic Heterojunctions for Efficient Solar Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐throughput screening led to the identification of 67 Z‐scheme heterojunctions (comprising 2D magnetic transition metal halides and non‐magnetic transition metal chalcogenides). For CrI3/MoTe2 and CrI3/WTe2, electronic structure analysis demonstrated that synergistic crystallographic point group and built‐in electric field effects generate a ...

Deduced probable human leukocyte antigen haplotypes associated with HLA-A*11:256Q and HLA-A*02:621 identified by case analyses of Taiwanese individuals

open access: yesTzu Chi Medical Journal, 2017
Objective: HLA-A*11:256Q and HLA-A*02:621 are two low-frequency HLA-A alleles. The aim here is to report the ethnicity of A*11:256Q and A*02:621 and associated human leukocyte antigen (HLA) haplotypes among Taiwanese individuals.

Magnetic Moments of the Baryon Decuplet in a Relativistic Quark Model

open access: yes, 1993
The magnetic moments of the baryon decuplet are calculated in a relativistic constituent quark model using the light-front formalism. Of particular interest are the magnetic moments of the $\Omega^-$ and $\Delta^{++}$ for which new recent experimental ...
