Bidirectional Photoswitching of a Tailored Azobenzene with Red and Far‐Red Light Involving Triplet Sensitization in an Aqueous System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The action spectrum of a tailored azobenzene is shifted toward bio‐optical window through the chemical modification of its singlet and triplet energy levels. Consequently, the bidirectional photo‐switching of azobenzene in physiological conditions is achieved when excited by red and far‐red light, which offers greater tissue penetration.

Attomole-per Cell Atomic Mass Spectrometry Measurement of Platinum and Gold Drugs in Cultured Lung Cancer Cells

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
In this study, we developed a strategy to determine atto- and femtomolar amounts of metal ions in lysates and mineralizates of cells (human non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC, A549) and normal lung (MRC-5)) exposed to cytotoxic metallo-drugs: cisplatin

On the Role of Preprocessing and Memristor Dynamics in Reservoir Computing for Image Classification

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Reservoir computing (RC) is an emerging recurrent neural network architecture that has attracted growing attention for its low training cost and modest hardware requirements. Memristor‐based circuits are particularly promising for RC, as their intrinsic dynamics can reduce network size and parameter overhead in tasks such as time‐series ...

Differential Sensing of Saccharides Based on an Array of Fluorinated Benzosiloxaborole Receptors

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Fluorinated benzosiloxaboroles–silicon congeners of benzoxaboroles, were synthesized and tested as molecular receptors for mono- and disaccharides. The receptors differed in the Lewis acidity of the boron center as well as in the number of potential ...

Enhancing Sustainability Label Effectiveness Through Logo Design Modification: An Analysis of the EU Green Leaf Logo

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainability labels can help support consumers select more socially and environmentally friendly options, thereby enhancing returns for conscientious producers and promoting the transition to a more sustainable food system. However, consumer confusion regarding labels' meaning undermines their effectiveness.

Exploring the Impact of Meat Alternative Labeling Regulations on the U.S. Meat Consumption Patterns

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The global demand for conventional meat continues to rise, but it is also associated with substantial environmental and health challenges. In response, meat alternatives have gained popularity, sparking debates over meat alternative labeling regulations. This study investigates the effects of meat alternative labeling regulations in the United

Perioperative and Oncological Outcomes of Colorectal Cancer Surgery in Obese Patients: A Multicenter Retrospective Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
The prognostic value of the log odds of positive lymph nodes (LODDS) across BMI categories was investigated in patients undergoing colorectal cancer resection. The exploratory evidence demonstrates that LODDS serves as a strong prognostic marker, and its adverse effect may be more pronounced in patients with higher BMI.

FastCat: Autonomous Discovery of Multielement Layered Double Hydroxide Alloy Catalysts for Alkaline Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A machine learning‐guided self‐driving laboratory screened over 500 nickel‐based layered double‐hydroxide catalysts for alkaline oxygen evolution. Out of the eight metals, the robot uncovered a quaternary Ni–Fe–Cr–Co catalysts requiring only 231 mV overpotential to reach 20 mA cm−2.

The Influence of Grass Species Composition on Fishpond Dikes on Soil Infiltration

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2016
Infiltration of water into the soil was monitored from 2012 to 2015 in two fishpond dikes of three different variants of grass species composition: variant 1 – grass mix for extensively dry conditions, variant 2 – heavy duty grass mix, variant 3 – grass ...
