Forecasting High-Dimensional Covariance Matrices Using High-Dimensional Principal Component Analysis

open access: yesAxioms, 2022
We modify the recently proposed forecasting model of high-dimensional covariance matrices (HDCM) of asset returns using high-dimensional principal component analysis (PCA).

Prototype of an Ankle Neurorehabilitation System with Heuristic BCI Using Simplified Fuzzy Reasoning

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Neurorehabilitation using a brain−computer interface (BCI) requires machine learning, for which calculations take a long time, even days. However, the demands of actual rehabilitation are becoming increasingly rigorous, requiring that processes be ...

Similar Supergraph Search Based on Graph Edit Distance

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2021
Subgraph and supergraph search methods are promising techniques for the development of new drugs. For example, the chemical structure of favipiravir—an antiviral treatment for influenza—resembles the structure of some components of RNA.

Systematic first-principles calculations of charge transfer transitions of transition metal ions (Sc3+, Ti3+, V3+, Cr3+, Mn3+, Fe3+) in α-Al2O3

open access: yesOptical Materials: X, 2019
In order to predict the LMCT energies for various trivalent transition metal (TM) ions in α-Al2O3 nonempirically, we performed first-principles calculations using TMO69− cluster (TM = Sc3+, Ti3+, V3+, Cr3+, Mn3+, Fe3+) using the Discrete Variational ...

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Perturbation of EPHA2 and EFNA1 trans binding amplifies inflammatory response in airway epithelial cells

open access: yesiScience
Summary: The interactions between EPH receptors and ephrin (EFN) ligands play a crucial role in maintaining epithelial integrity and aiding in defense against infections. However, it remains unclear how the EPH-EFN trans-binding changes during infections
