Interaction-induced impeding of decoherence and anomalous diffusion
We study how the interplay of dissipation and interactions affects the dynamics of a bosonic many-body quantum system. In the presence of both dissipation and strongly repulsive interactions, observables such as the coherence and the compressibility ...

Nonequivalence of ensembles for long-range quantum spin systems in optical lattices
Motivated by the anisotropic long-range nature of the interactions between cold dipolar atoms or molecules in an optical lattice, we study the anisotropic quantum Heisenberg model with Curie-Weiss-type long-range interactions.

Bose-Einstein condensation of 86Sr
We report on the attainment of Bose-Einstein condensation of 86Sr. This isotope has a scattering length of about +800 a0 and thus suffers from fast three-body losses.

Condensate fraction of cold gases in non-uniform external potential
Exact calculation of the condensate fraction in multi-dimensional inhomogeneous interacting Bose systems which do not possess continuous symmetries is a difficult computational problem.

Slow quench dynamics of a trapped one-dimensional Bose gas confined to an optical lattice
We analyze the effect of a linear time-variation of the interaction strength on a trapped one-dimensional Bose gas confined to an optical lattice. The evolution of different observables such as the experimentally accessible onsite particle distribution ...

Spontaneous formation of bright solitons in self-localized impurities in Bose-Einstein condensate
We study the formation of bright solitons in the impurity component of Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC)-impurity mixture by using the time-dependent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory.

Superposition states of ultracold bosons in rotating rings with a realistic potential barrier
In a recent paper [Phys. Rev. A 82, 063623 (2010)] Hallwood et al. argued that it is feasible to create large superposition states with strongly interacting bosons in rotating rings.

Optical Control of a Quantum Rotor
The possibility to coherently control a quantum rotor is investigated theoretically. The rotor is realized by an antiferromagnetic spin-1 Bose-Einstein condensate, trapped in the optical field of a Fabry-Perot resonator.

Optical Flux Lattices for Ultracold Atomic Gases
We show that simple laser configurations can give rise to "optical flux lattices", in which optically dressed atoms experience a periodic effective magnetic flux with high mean density.
