Parametric Study on Ru/CeO2 Ammonia Decomposition Catalysts for Hydrogen Production

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
A systematic study of Ru/CeO2 catalysts for NH3 decomposition to H2 prepared by different methods allowed to reveal that particle size and H2 spillover play a key role in the reactivity of these systems. Additionally, by appropriately tuning the synthesis method, they can work synergistically, strongly enhancing catalytic activity.

Tailoring Photophysical Processes of Er3+‐Doped Gd3Ga5O12 Garnets for Enhanced Photoluminescence via Al3+ Ion Preference Substitution

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
The preferential substitution of Al3+ ion at octahedral‐coordinated GaI sites of Er3+‐co‐doped Gd3Ga5O12 garnets achieved a PLQY enhancement of the down‐shifting luminescence from 35.1% to 68.5%. Al3+ ion also influences electron relaxation during up‐conversion luminescence, resulting in a color shift from red to yellow to green.

Chirality in Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Nanostructures

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The emergence of chirality in inorganic nanostructures has a critical impact on the properties and potential applications of these novel nanomaterials. This work presents a critical collection of examples of the observation of chirality in TMDs, covering different synthetic procedures and origins of chirality as well as a broad range of dimensionality ...

Two Key Ferredoxins for Nitrogen Fixation Have Different Specificities and Biophysical Properties

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Two ferredoxins, FdC and FdN, are collectively essential for the process of nitrogen fixation by the iron nitrogenase in R. capsulatus. We explore the biophysical factors, through spectroscopic and structural characterizations, which determine ferredoxin functionality and pathway specificity. The structure of FdC (PDB: 9I2A) and model of FdN (AF‐D5ARY6)

Quercetin•Zirconium Metal Complexes: Insights from Femto to Millisecond Photobehavior

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The switching off of excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT), followed by the switching on of ligand‐to‐metal charge transfer (LMCT) processes in quercetin (QRT)•Zr complexes, is crucial for generating Zr‐bound QRT radicals that exhibit significantly shorter lifetimes compared to free QRT radicals.
