A Different Perspective on the Solid Lubrication Performance of Black Phosphorous: Friend or Foe?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Researchers investigate black phosphorous (BP) as a standalone solid lubricant coating through ball‐on‐disc linear‐reciprocating sliding experiments in dry conditions. Testing on different metals shows BP doesn't universally reduce friction and wear. However, it achieves 33% friction reduction on rougher iron surfaces and 23% wear reduction on aluminum.

Transport Coefficients of Dirac Ferromagnet: Effects of Vertex Corrections

open access: yes, 2017
As a strongly spin-orbit coupled metallic model with ferromagnetism, we have considered an extended Stoner model to the relativistic regime, named Dirac ferromagnet in three dimensions. In the previous paper~[Phys. Rev. B 90, 214418 (2014)], we studied

Disorder-quenched Kondo effect in mesosocopic electronic systems

open access: yes, 2007
Nonmagnetic disorder is shown to quench the screening of magnetic moments in metals, the Kondo effect. The probability that a magnetic moment remains free down to zero temperature is found to increase with disorder strength. Experimental consequences for

Bright broadband coherent fiber sources emitting strongly blue-shifted resonant dispersive wave pulses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We predict and realize the targeted wavelength conversion from the 1550-nm band of a fs Er:fiber laser to an isolated band inside 370-850 nm, corresponding to a blue-shift of 700-1180 nm.
