Implications of "peak oil" for atmospheric CO2 and climate
Unconstrained CO2 emission from fossil fuel burning has been the dominant cause of observed anthropogenic global warming. The amounts of "proven" and potential fossil fuel reserves are uncertain and debated.

Characteristics of successful risk management in product design [PDF]
The paper reports results of one of the largest empirical studies to-date on the impact of design risk management practices on product design success. Through a survey of 224 practices, 38 (in 7 categories) where found to be statistically significant for

D6 Family Symmetry and Cold Dark Matter at LHC
We consider a non-supersymmetric extension of the standard model with a family symmetry based on D6 Z2 Z2, where one of Z2's is exactly conserved. This Z2 forbids the tree-level neutrino masses and simultaneously ensures the stability of cold dark matter

Dynamical Conductivity Across The Disorder-Tuned Superconductor-Insulator Transition
A quantum phase transition is a dramatic event marked by large spatial and temporal fluctuations, where one phase of matter with its ground state and tower of excitations reorganizes into a completely different phase.

Thermoelectric Modules Incorporating MgAgSb and Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 Synthesized Using a Melting Method
A scalable synthesis method for a thermoelectric material of MgAgSb is established. A thermoelectric power module of MgAgSb/Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 is fabricated, showing the conversion efficiency of 7.4% at ΔT = 315 K. The performance is comparable to conventional Bi2Te3 modules when they are operated with an air‐cooled heat exchanger.

Disorder-quenched Kondo effect in mesosocopic electronic systems
Nonmagnetic disorder is shown to quench the screening of magnetic moments in metals, the Kondo effect. The probability that a magnetic moment remains free down to zero temperature is found to increase with disorder strength. Experimental consequences for
