Energy-variational solutions for viscoelastic fluid models

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis
In this article, we introduce the concept of energy-variational solutions for a class of nonlinear dissipative evolutionary equations, which turns out to be especially suited to treat viscoelastic fluid models.

Dynamics of chains grafted on solid wall during polymer melt extrusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The objective of the present work is the mathematical modeling of the dynamics of polymer molecules grafted on a solid boundary during polymer melt extrusion.

Strong stability of 2D viscoelastic Poiseuille-type flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate Lp stability issues of small viscoelastic Poiseuilletype ows in two dimensions stemming from a model considered in Fang- Hua Lin, Chun Liu, and Ping Zhang (2005).

Elastic director vibrations in nematic liquid crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Recently Biscari, DiCarlo and Turzi [Anisotropic wave propagation in nematic liquid crystals, Soft Matter 10, 8296-8307.] proposed a theory for nematoacustics which models nematic liquid crystals as nematic elastomers with molecular relaxation.

Global generalized solutions for Maxwell-alpha and Euler-alpha equations

open access: yes, 2011
We study initial-boundary value problems for the Lagrangian averaged alpha models for the equations of motion for the corotational Maxwell and inviscid fluids in 2D and 3D. We show existence of (global in time) dissipative solutions to these problems. We

Some controllability results for linear viscoelastic fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We analyze the controllability properties of systems which provide a description, at first approximation, of a kind of viscoelastic fluid. We consider linear Maxwell fluids.

Fully-implicit log-conformation formulation of constitutive laws

open access: yes, 2014
Subject of this paper is the derivation of a new constitutive law in terms of the logarithm of the conformation tensor that can be used as a full substitute for the 2D governing equations of the Oldroyd-B, Giesekus and other models.

THE NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF FREE CONVECTION FLOW OF VISCOELASTIC FLUID PAST OVER A SPHERE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Free convection flow is heat transfer on fluid caused by buoyancy forces because of density difference. We further use The boundary layer theory to obtain governing equations.

On Hydromagnetic Channel Flow of an Oldroyd-B Fluid induced by Pulses of Longitudinal Impulses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A flow problem concerning motion of an incompressible electrically conducting Oldroyd-B fluid in a channel bounded by two infinite rigid non-conducting parallel plates in presence of an external magnetic field acting in a direction normal to ...

Global in time solutions for the Poiseuille flow of Oldroyd type in 3D domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A Poiseuille flow in a 3D cylindrical domain is considered for a non-newtonian fluid of Oldroyd type. We prove existence (and uniqueness) of a global (in time) weak solution. Moreover, this weak solution is an strong solution when data are more regular.
