Biochemical and histological evidence of deteriorated bioprosthetic valve leaflets: the accumulation of fibrinogen and plasminogen

open access: yesBiology Open, 2018
Calcification of bioprosthetic valves (BVs) implanted in aortic position can result in gradual deterioration and necessitate aortic valve replacement. The molecular mechanism of calcium deposition on BV leaflets has been investigated, but remains to be ...

Twisted 1‐ and 2‐Azaperopyrenes: Synthesis, Structure, and Properties

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A synthesis of hitherto unknown 1‐ and 2‐azaperopyrenes, twisted nitrogen‐doped peropyrenes, is reported. The synthesis is based on a Brønsted acid‐mediated benzannulation of alkynes. Key alkyne intermediates are synthesized via two complementary routes, including a Pd/C‐catalyzed, copper‐ and amine‐free Sonogashira‐type coupling of (hetero ...

On the 𝑞-Genocchi Numbers and Polynomials with Weight 𝛼 and Weak Weight 𝛽

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
We construct a new type of 𝑞-Genocchi numbers and polynomials with weight 𝛼 and weak weight 𝛽∶𝐺(𝛼,𝛽)𝑛,𝑞,𝐺(𝛼,𝛽)𝑛,𝑞(𝑥), respectively. Some interesting results and relationships are obtained.

Highly Potent Fluorogenic Ligands for Triplex DNA: 5‐Substituted 2‐(Naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐Chromen‐4‐Ones

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
5‐Substituted 2‐(naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐chromen‐4‐ones are reported as a novel class of highly potent and selective triplex DNA ligands. These ligands induce triplex formation at submicromolar concentrations and inhibit enzymatic activity via ligand‐mediated triplex formation.

Some Relations of the Twisted q-Genocchi Numbers and Polynomials with Weight α and Weak Weight β

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
Recently many mathematicians are working on Genocchi polynomials and Genocchi numbers. We define a new type of twisted q-Genocchi numbers and polynomials with weight 𝛼 and weak weight 𝛽 and give some interesting relations of the twisted q-Genocchi ...

An individual-based model simulating goat response variability and long-term herd performance

open access: yesAnimal, 2010
Finding ways of increasing the efficiency of production systems is a key issue of sustainability. System efficiency is based on long-term individual efficiency, which is highly variable and management driven.

Charting Resource Efficiency Practices Across European Firms: A Multilevel Analysis

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The circular economy (CE) is a key sustainability paradigm, prompting European Union (EU) organizations and policymakers to move beyond linear production and consumption models. The study aimed to assess the implementation patterns of nine CE activities among EU companies and to explore how the implementation of these CE activities relates to ...

Where Tech Meets the SDGs: A Supply‐Chain Process Map for Sustainability Management

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how advanced technologies support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within supply chain management (SCM) through a structured analysis of 4448 sustainable practices. By integrating perspectives from sustainability‐oriented innovation (SOI) and contingent dynamic capabilities, the research conceptualizes technology ...

The Prevalence and Burden of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) Symptoms in the Adult General Population of the UK and USA

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is a feeding and eating disorder characterized by avoidant/restrictive eating behaviors that lead to medical and/or functional impairments. While ARFID is increasingly recognized within pediatric populations and specialist clinics, data on its prevalence and burden within the adult
