Analysis of Biophysical Variables in an Onion Crop (Allium cepa L.) with Nitrogen Fertilization by Sentinel-2 Observations

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
The production of onions bulbs (Allium cepa L.) requires a high amount of nitrogen. According to the demand of sustainable agriculture, the information-development and communication technologies allow for improving the efficiency of nitrogen ...

CRP Deficiency Rescues Periodontitis‐Induced Hippocampal Neurogenesis Impairment by Suppressing OPC‐Derived BMP4 Signaling in Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic periodontitis elevates circulating CRP, which enters the hippocampus to upregulate BMP4 in oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs), thereby impairing neurogenesis and inducing anxiety/depression‐like behaviors in rats. Counteracting this pathway, CRP deficiency helps confer functional resilience to OPCs.

Quantum thermalization through entanglement in an isolated many-body system [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2016
To thermalize, or not to thermalize? Intuition tells us that an isolated physical system subjected to a sudden change (i.e., quenching) will evolve in a way that maximizes its entropy.

Rapid Proteome‐Wide Discovery of Protein–Protein Interactions With ppIRIS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ppIRIS is a lightweight deep learning framework for proteome‐wide protein–protein interaction prediction directly from sequence. By fusing evolutionary and structural embeddings with a regularized Siamese architecture, ppIRIS achieves state‐of‐the‐art accuracy across species, enables minute‐scale screening, and reveals biologically validated bacterial ...

Polarons in DPP Polymers – How Glycol Side Chains and Elongated Conjugated Backbone Influence the Formation and Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The study examines how structural modifications in DPP polymers, glycol side chains and extended conjugated backbones affect charge transport and polaron dynamics. It highlights dramatic conductivity gains through electrochemical doping and reveals molecular insights via in situ Raman spectroscopy.

Enhancing Sustainability Label Effectiveness Through Logo Design Modification: An Analysis of the EU Green Leaf Logo

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainability labels can help support consumers select more socially and environmentally friendly options, thereby enhancing returns for conscientious producers and promoting the transition to a more sustainable food system. However, consumer confusion regarding labels' meaning undermines their effectiveness.

Energy Depletion Inhibits Phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinase/Akt Signaling and Induces Apoptosis via AMP-activated Protein Kinase-dependent Phosphorylation of IRS-1 at Ser-794*

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2007
Energy depletion activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and inhibits cell growth via TSC2-dependent suppression of mTORC1 signaling. Long term energy depletion also induces apoptosis by mechanisms that are not well understood to date. Here we show

Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery in the Era of Robotics: Evolution, Eclipse, or Equilibrium?

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Minimally invasive colorectal surgery has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past three decades. Laparoscopy, once viewed with skepticism, is now firmly established as a standard approach, supported by robust randomized trials demonstrating oncologic safety and improved recovery compared to open surgery.

Risk Factors for Radiation-Induced Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca in Dogs Treated with Hypofractionated Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy for Intranasal Tumors

open access: yesAnimals
Radiation-induced keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS) is a significant late complication in dogs receiving radiation therapy for intranasal tumors, particularly with hypofractionated intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).
