Electrowetting-Induced Oil Film Entrapment and Instability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We investigate the spreading at variable rate of a water drop on a smooth hydrophobic substrate in an ambient oil bath driven by electrowetting. We find that a thin film of oil is entrapped under the drop.

Effect of an electric field on an intermittent granular flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Granular gravity driven flows of glass beads have been observed in a silo with a flat bottom. A DC high electric field has been applied perpendicularly to the silo to tune the cohesion. The outlet mass flow has been measured.

3-dimensional computer model of electrospinning multicapillary unit used for electrostatic field analysis

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2017
Electrospinning is an experimental method of the polymer super thin fibres formation using the electrostatic field. The distribution of electrostatic field affects the effectiveness of the electrospinning.

Model of the multipolar engine with decreased cogging torque by asymmetrical distribution of the magnets

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2018
This paper presents the results of field calculations of cogging torque for a 12-pole torque motor with an 18-slot stator. A constant angular velocity magnet and the same size gap between n-1 magnets were assumed.

Three-dimensional computer models of electrospinning systems

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2017
Electrospinning is a very interesting method that allows the fabrication of continuous fibers with diameters down to a few nanometers. This paper presents an overview of electrospinning systems as well as their comparison using proposed three-dimensional

Magnetic Wire Traps and Programmable Manipulation of Biological Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present a multiplex method, based on microscopic programmable magnetic traps in zigzag wires patterned on a platform, to simultaneously apply directed forces on multiple fluid-borne cells or biologically inert magnetic microparticles or nanoparticles.

Magnetomechanical Effects in the Elastic Polymer Composites Containing Ferromagnetic Powder Particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In the present work, a detailed thermodynamic consideration for the magnetic free energy of the composite material consisting of the ferromagnetic powder particles embedded into a polymer matrix is given.
