Efficient methylammonium lead iodide perovskite solar cells with active layers from 300 to 900 nm

open access: yes, 2014
Efficient methylammonium lead iodide perovskite-based solar cells have been prepared in which the perovskite layer is sandwiched in between two organic charge transporting layers that block holes and electrons, respectively.

Nuclei‐Specific Amygdala Enlargement Is Linked to Psychiatric Comorbidities in Drug‐Resistant Focal Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amygdala enlargement has been the subject of controversial studies regarding its significance in terms of pathogenicity both in epilepsy and in psychiatric comorbidities such as anxiety, depression, and post‐traumatic stress disorder.

On effective Kähler potential in N=2, d=3 SQED

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2015
We compute the two-loop effective Kähler potential in three-dimensional N=2 supersymmetric electrodynamics with Chern–Simons kinetic term for the gauge superfield.

Characterisation of a soil catena on the Western slope of the Piton des Neiges volcano (La Réunion) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In La Réunion island, where only 17% (43 692 ha) of the total area is cultivated, a huge irrigation project aims at increasing the agricultural production on the western slope of the Piton des Neiges volcano.

Retrotransposon Expression Is Upregulated in Adulthood and Suppressed during Regeneration of the Limb in the Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The axolotl's remarkable regenerative abilities decline with age, the causes may include the numerous repetitive elements within its genome. This study uncovers how Ty3 retrotransposons and coexpression networks involving muscle and immune pathways respond to aging and regeneration, suggesting that transposons respond to physiological shifts and may ...

Two-particle irreducible effective actions versus resummation: Analytic properties and self-consistency

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2015
Approximations based on two-particle irreducible (2PI) effective actions (also known as Φ-derivable, Cornwall–Jackiw–Tomboulis or Luttinger–Ward functionals depending on context) have been widely used in condensed matter and non-equilibrium quantum ...

Sensitivity of an image plate system in the XUV (60 eV < E < 900 eV)

open access: yes, 2012
Phosphor imaging plates (IPs) have been calibrated and proven useful for quantitative x-ray imaging in the 1 to over 1000 keV energy range. In this paper we report on calibration measurements made at XUV energies in the 60 to 900 eV energy range using ...

Ultra‐Shallow Flat Heat Waves on Low Thermal Conductivity Flexible Polyimide Substrate for Millisecond Thermal Analysis of Materials and Bioelectronic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An electronic system is presented consisting of a silver thin‐film electrode on a polyimide substrate working both as a heating element and a resistive temperature sensor, generating millisecond heat pulses with very fast heating and cooling rates and a flat peak temperature with a tunable duration.

A Different Perspective on the Solid Lubrication Performance of Black Phosphorous: Friend or Foe?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Researchers investigate black phosphorous (BP) as a standalone solid lubricant coating through ball‐on‐disc linear‐reciprocating sliding experiments in dry conditions. Testing on different metals shows BP doesn't universally reduce friction and wear. However, it achieves 33% friction reduction on rougher iron surfaces and 23% wear reduction on aluminum.
