Inventory and vertical migration of 90Sr fallout and 137Cs/90Sr ratio in Spanish mainland soils

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2011
In this paper the inventory of (90)Sr in 34 points distributed along the Spanish peninsular territory is presented. Obtained values range between 173 Bq/m(2) and 2047 Bq/m(2). From these data set and those (137)Cs data obtained in a previous work the (137)Cs/(90)Sr activity ratio has been established, laying this value between 0.9 and 3.6.

Migration mechanisms of 90Sr and 137Cs on terraces

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2023
In order to investigate the impact of environmental conditions on the distribution and migration of 90Sr in the Longji terrace environment, the activity concentrations of 90Sr and 137Cs were determined. The activity concentration ranges of 90Sr and 137Cs in surface soil were 0.15-1.04 Bq/kg and 2.16-6.94 Bq/kg, respectively.

COMPARISON OF FOUR 90Sr GROUNDWATER ANALYTICAL METHODS

Health Physics, 1999
Data are presented for 45 Long Island groundwater samples each measured for 90Sr using four different analytical methods. 90Sr levels were first established by two New York State certified laboratories, one of which used the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Radioactive Strontium in Drinking Water Method 905.0. Three of the 90Sr methods evaluated at

EPR dose reconstruction for bone-seeking 90Sr

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1999
The results of the EPR dose reconstruction in calcified tissues of dog injected with 90Sr are presented. It has been established that there is no essential difference in the values of doses absorbed in tooth tissues of teeth in symmetric positions in the mouth, whereas a significant difference occurs in the values of absorbed doses in teeth in non ...

The mutagenic effect of 90Sr in barley

Mutation Research/Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis, 1970
Abstract The mutation frequency in the pollen character waxy was investigated in barley plants cultivated on soil contaminated with 90 Sr. Doses in the range of human safety interest were mutagenic. The mutation frequency per dose unit was higher in the lowest dose region than at moderate doses.

90Sr content of soils from Biscay (Spain)

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2001
The concentrations of 90Sr at different depth levels have been determined in 55 soils from 11 points at Biscay (Spain) by extracting this radionuclide from 30 g samples. It was measured by beta-counting after purification. The concentrations of 137Cs in the same soils are known from previous studies.

Removal of 90Sr from highly Na+-rich liquid nuclear waste with a layered vanadosilicate

Energy & Environmental Science, 2019
Capture of trace amounts (parts per trillion or ppt level) of 90Sr from highly Na+-rich (5 M or 115 000 parts per million) liquid wastes produced from reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel rods is crucial for continuous operation of nuclear power plants.

The toxicity of 90Sr, 226Ra and 239Pu

Nature, 1976
Data now available on the risks of radiation-induced fatal cancer and hereditary disease and radionuclide metabolism suggest that limits on the rates of intake of 90Sr, 226Ra and 239Pu at work, presently recommended by the International Commission on Radiological Protection, might be in need of considerable revision one with another and with the limit ...

Field deployable technique for 90Sr emergency bioassay

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2009
Rapid bioassay is very important for immediate and near-term consequence management, which includes identifying contaminated individuals and providing necessary medical intervention during a radiological or nuclear emergency. This paper reports the application of a newly developed bioassay technique for (90)Sr in urine on a field deployable instrument,

Development of realtime 90Sr counter

2013 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference (2013 NSS/MIC), 2013
In March 2011, a large earthquake hit Japan and damaged seriously. Because of this disaster, accidents was happen at Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant and many radioisotope has been released into the Japanese coast of the Pacific Ocean. We pay attention to 90Sr and propose the method to detect it in an hour.
