Te Whakaruruhau Transition and Wellbeing programme: An implementation evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Based on the recognition that many women who come into refuge have few options but to return to the sort of environment in which they have been abused, the Transition and Wellbeing programme aims to provide medium to long term housing for families as ...

Approaching ultra-strong coupling in Transmon circuit-QED using a high-impedance resonator

open access: yes, 2017
In this experiment, we couple a superconducting Transmon qubit to a high-impedance $645\ \Omega$ microwave resonator. Doing so leads to a large qubit-resonator coupling rate $g$, measured through a large vacuum Rabi splitting of $2g\simeq 910$ MHz.

Arsenite stress down-regulates phosphorylation and 14-3-3 binding of leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2), promoting self-association and cellular redistribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Mutations in the gene encoding leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) are a common genetic cause of Parkinson disease, but the mechanisms whereby LRRK2 is regulated are unknown. Phosphorylation of LRRK2 at Ser(910)/Ser(935) mediates interaction with 14-3-3.

Synthetic Cell‐Based Tissues for Bottom‐Up Assembly of Artificial Lymphatic Organs

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Synthetic cells have emerged as a novel biomimetic approach for fundamental research and therapeutic interventions. T cell activating synthetic cells are able to form 3D tissue‐like structures by self‐assembly into lymphatic bottom‐up tissues (lymphBUT) with tunable biochemical and biomechanical functionalities as well as metabolic activity are ...

A codon-optimized Mecp2 transgene corrects breathing deficits and improves survival in a mouse model of Rett syndrome

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2017
Rett syndrome (RTT) is a severe X-linked neurodevelopmental disorder that is primarily caused by mutations in the methyl CpG binding protein 2 gene (MECP2). RTT is the second most prevalent cause of intellectual disability in girls and there is currently

Monetary policy rules and the persistence of inflation and output [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper argues that the parameters of monetary policy rules affect the persistence of inflation and output. Persistence is lower if monetary policy emphasises the price level or if there is an inflation target. A greater emphasis on output increases

Anisotropy-based mechanism for zigzag striped patterns in magnetic thin films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this work we studied a two dimensional ferromagnetic system using Monte Carlo simulations. Our model includes exchange and dipolar interactions, a cubic anisotropy term, and uniaxial out-of-plane and in-plane ones.

Self‐Assembling Peptide Hydrogels Support Stromal Vascular Fraction Viability to Promote In Vivo Nerve Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Stromal vascular fraction (SVF) may enhance nerve repair, especially when delivered in a self‐assembling peptide hydrogel (SAPH). In vitro, softer SAPH increased neuronal explant outgrowth and supported greater SVF viability and proliferation. In a rat sciatic defect, SVF in an optimized SAPH produced motor and sensory recovery equivalent to autograft ...

Conductivity and microstructural evaluation of SGDC solid electrolytes synthetized by Pechini and controlled precipitation

open access: yesBoletín de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio, 2022
In this work, controlled precipitation synthesis methods and polymeric precursors (Pechini) were used to obtain gadolinium-doped cerium oxide solid electrolytes (Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9) and double-doped cerium oxide with gadolinium and samarium (Ce0.8Gd0.2 ...
