Wavelet entropy of stochastic processes

open access: yes, 2006
We compare two different definitions for the wavelet entropy associated to stochastic processes. The first one, the Normalized Total Wavelet Entropy (NTWS) family [Phys. Rev. E 57 (1998) 932; J.

Circular RNA PTPN4 Contributes to Blood‐Brain Barrier Disruption during Early Epileptogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Epileptic condition induces CircPTPN4 upregulation, which promotes ECE‐1 expression through competitive sequestration of miR‐145a‐5p. The elevated ECE‐1 catalyzes the ET‐1 production, leading to p38/MAPK pathway activation and subsequent downregulation of tight junction protein expression. This cascade results in increased BBB permeability and enhanced

Who Knows Best What the Next Year Will Hold for You? The Validity of Direct and Personality‐based Predictions of Future Life Experiences Across Different Perceivers

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Personality, EarlyView., 2020
Abstract This study explored the validity of person judgements by targets and their acquaintances (‘informants’) in longitudinally predicting a broad range of psychologically meaningful life experiences. Judgements were gathered from four sources (targets, N = 189; and three types of informants, N = 1352), and their relative predictive validity was ...

The curious case of the refrigerator-TV: similarity and hybridization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper examines the role of similarity in the hybridization of concepts, focusing on hybrid products as an applied test case. Hybrid concepts found in natural language, such as singer songwriter, typically combine similar concepts, whereas dissimilar

Discovery of a Novel DNMT1 Inhibitor with Improved Efficacy in Treating β‐Thalassemia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Context of Research: β‐thalassemia affects millions worldwide. DNMT inhibitors are effective HbF‐inducers that benefit patients with β‐thalassemia. Existing DNMT inhibitors are not approved for β‐thalassemia treatment due to dose‐limiting toxicity. What We Find: DMT207 traps DNMT1 into helix‐kinked inactive conformation and enhances its interaction with

Highly Sensitive Strain Sensor Based on a Novel Mach-Zehnder Interferometer with TCF-PCF Structure

open access: yesSensors, 2018
A highly sensitive strain sensor based on a novel fiber in line Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) was demonstrated experimentally. The MZI was realized by splicing a section of photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with the same length of thin core fiber (TCF ...

Polarized optical properties of hollowed-out 2D-gold-nanosheets studied using FDTD simulations

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Hollowed-out gold-nanosheets (HoGNSs) are one of the special two-dimensional single-crystals on which their bodies (the body of HoGNS, abbreviated as NS-body) contain one or more hollow defects.

A Subset of Pro‐inflammatory CXCL10+ LILRB2+ Macrophages Derives From Recipient Monocytes and Drives Renal Allograft Rejection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a recipient‐derived monocyte‐to‐macrophage trajectory that drives inflammation during kidney transplant rejection. Using over 150 000 single‐cell profiles and more than 850 biopsies, the authors identify CXCL10+ macrophages as key predictors of graft loss.
