In this series, this paper is devoted to the study of a functional equation connected with the characterization of weighted entropy and weighted entropy of degree β. Here, we find the general solution of the functional equation (2) on an open domain, without using 0‐probability and 1‐probability.

Measures of uncertainty such as entropy, extropy, varentropy, and varextropy play a fundamental role in statistical modeling and information analysis of probability distributions. In this article, we present and examine the variance of generalized extropy, providing a detailed investigation of its mathematical structure and theoretical characteristics.

New Jensen's bounds for HA-convex mappings with applications to Shannon entropy
The aim of this article is to establish some new extensions and variants of Jensen’s discrete and Simic-type inequalities for HA-convex and uniformly HA-convex functions.

Minimum Description Length Principle in Discriminating Marginal Distributions [PDF]
2010 Mathematics Subject Classification: 94A17, 62B10, 62F03.In this paper the MDL principle is explored in discriminating between a model with normal marginal distributions vs a model with Student-T marginal distributions.

Dynamic Parameter Estimation Based on Minimum Cross-Entropy Method for Combining Information Sources [PDF]
When combining information sources, e.g. measuring devices or experts, we deal with two problems: which combining method to choose (linear combination, geometric mean) and how to measure the reliability of the sources, i.e.

Metric properties of partial and robust Gromov-Wasserstein distances
The Gromov-Wasserstein (GW) distances define a family of metrics, based on ideas from optimal transport, which enable comparisons between probability measures defined on distinct metric spaces.

An alternate measure of the cumulative residual Sharma-Taneja-Mittal entropy
We define a new alternate measure of the cumulative residual Sharma-Taneja-Mittal entropy. For this measure, there are given upper and lower bounds, is introduced a consistent test based on the uniform distribution and some concrete numerical examples ...

Entropy Based Approach to Finding Interacting Genes Responsible for Complex Human Disease [PDF]
2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 62P10, 92D10, 92D30, 94A17, 62L10.A challenging problem in human genetics is the identification and characterization of susceptibility genes for complex human diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer ...
