Lanmodulin‐Decorated Microbes for Efficient Lanthanide Recovery
Bio‐scaffolded lanmodulin (LanM) on E. coli is developed as a simple, effective material for repeated capture and release of rare earth elements (REEs). Over 80% of four REE cations are captured, even in the presence of excess competitive ions. The material can be employed in a filtration flow‐through system with a capture capacity of 11.8 ± 0.9 mg g−1

Recycling of Critical Metals from Light‐Emitting Diodes
The new process for recovering the critical metals indium and lutetium from light‐emitting diodes uses polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or PVC waste as a cheap chlorine source for the chlorination of indium for evaporation. The residue was leached out and the filtrate was used for liquid‐liquid extraction to recover lutetium, as a test‐of‐concept study ...

Microbial Diversity and Its Relationship to Physicochemical Characteristics of the Water in Two Extreme Acidic Pit Lakes from the Iberian Pyrite Belt (SW Spain) [PDF]
The Iberian Pyrite Belt (IPB) hosts one of the world's largest accumulations of acidic mine wastes and pit lakes. The mineralogical and textural characteristics of the IPB ores have favored the oxidation and dissolution of metallic sulfides, mainly ...
