Lanmodulin‐Decorated Microbes for Efficient Lanthanide Recovery

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 10, March 12, 2025.
Bio‐scaffolded lanmodulin (LanM) on E. coli is developed as a simple, effective material for repeated capture and release of rare earth elements (REEs). Over 80% of four REE cations are captured, even in the presence of excess competitive ions. The material can be employed in a filtration flow‐through system with a capture capacity of 11.8 ± 0.9 mg g−1

Effect of heat treatment on bio-corrosion rate of steel structure (API 5L) in marine evironment

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
One of the cause of corrosion is the attachment of bacteria or commonly called as bio-corrosion or Microbial Influenced Corrosion (MIC). This aim of the research was to determine effect of heat treatment process on the bio-corrosion rate of API 5L steel.

Characterize the Growth and Metabolism of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans under Electroautotrophic and Chemoautotrophic Conditions

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Acidophiles are capable of surviving in extreme environments with low pH. Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans is a typical acidophilic bacterium that has been extensively studied when grown chemoautotrophically, i.e., when it derives energy from oxidation of ...

Recycling of Critical Metals from Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, Volume 97, Issue 1-2, Page 110-115, February 2025.
The new process for recovering the critical metals indium and lutetium from light‐emitting diodes uses polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or PVC waste as a cheap chlorine source for the chlorination of indium for evaporation. The residue was leached out and the filtrate was used for liquid‐liquid extraction to recover lutetium, as a test‐of‐concept study ...
