IGF2 knockout reduces but does not abolish osteosarcoma growth in vitro and in vivo
To test whether endogenous IGF2 promotes osteosarcoma growth, IGF2 was knocked out in Saos2 cells via CRISPR‐Cas9. KO cells showed reduced proliferation in vitro, and knockout xenografts in mice reached only ~25% of wild‐type tumor volume. Insulin‐like growth factor 2 (IGF2) is implicated in osteosarcoma, but direct functional evidence of its role is ...

Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

High‐throughput screening led to the identification of 67 Z‐scheme heterojunctions (comprising 2D magnetic transition metal halides and non‐magnetic transition metal chalcogenides). For CrI3/MoTe2 and CrI3/WTe2, electronic structure analysis demonstrated that synergistic crystallographic point group and built‐in electric field effects generate a ...

Early Retinal UCHL1 Dysregulation Coupled With Synaptic Loss Reflects Alzheimer's Disease Severity
This study identifies synapse‐enriched deubiquitinase UCHL1 as an early Aβ‐responsive regulator of retinal synaptopathy in Alzheimer's disease. Retinal UCHL1 loss accompanies excitatory synapse degeneration, p75NTR activation, and neuroinflammation, and predicts Braak stage and cognitive decline. Aβ42 fibrils trigger synaptic and UCHL1 depletion before

Stakeholder reactions to new policies for forest-biodiversity protection Stakeholder reactions to new policies for forest-biodiversity protection [PDF]
The capacity to determine in advance the behaviour of stakeholders in charge of implementing public policies and to foresee the reactions of the public and consumers impacted by those policies would be a decisive advantage for decision-makers.

Perovskite‐type oxide lanthanoid‐substituted BiCoO3 exhibits a reversible negative thermal expansion (NTE) originated from the coordination change from the CoO5 pyramid to the CoO6 octahedron due to melting of the dxy orbital ordering in the d6 electron configuration, and the 6.1% volume shrinkage in Bi0.82Nd0.18CoO3 is the largest ever observed in the

The current long-term treatment for leishmaniasis causes severe side effects and resistance in some cases. An evaluation of the anti-leishmanial potential of an HSP90-inhibitor, 17-allylamino-17-demethoxygeldanamycin (17-AAG), demonstrated its potent ...

Basal Plane Graphene Coated Zn Powder for High Performance Aqueous Zn Metal Batteries
A mechanofusion‐driven dry coating forms a hydrophobic graphene shell on Zn powder, stabilizing the electrode‐electrolyte interface. This basal‐plane‐rich protective layer modifies the Zn2+ solvation environment and promotes preferential growth along the (002) plane, suppressing dendrite and parasitic reactions.
