A Posteriori Error Estimates for HDG Methods

Journal of Scientific Computing, 2011
The authors present the first a posteriori error analysis of the hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin (HDG) methods for second-order elliptic problems. They prove that the error in the flux can be controlled by only two terms. The first term captures the so-called data oscillation.

Guaranteed a-posteriori error estimation and a-posteriori estimation of the pollution error

2001
Abstract In Chapter 5 we discussed various estimators for the energy norm of the error in the finite element solution. We discussed the Neumann element residual estimator, the subdo-main residual estimator, the explicit residual estimator, the recovery estimators (e.g. the ZZ–SPR estimator, etc), and analyzed them in two ways:

A Posteriori Error Estimation

2012
In this chapter, we present some basic techniques for developing a posteriori error estimation for solving Maxwell’s equations. It is known that the a posteriori error estimation plays a very important role in adaptive finite element method. In Sect. 6.1, we provide a brief overview of a posteriori error estimation. Then in Sect.

A Posteriori Error Estimator for Obstacle Problems

SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, 2010
In this paper, we consider a posteriori error estimators for obstacle problems. The variational inequality is reformulated as a mixed problem in terms of a discrete nodewise defined but variationally consistent Lagrange multiplier. Locally defined equilibrated fluxes and an $H(\mathrm{div})$-conforming lifting define our estimator.

A-Posteriori Estimation Of The Error

2001
Abstract In Chapters 3 and 4, we analyzed the properties of the Finite Element Method. We have shown that the finite element solution converges to the exact solution by establishing asymptotic estimates for the energy norm, the L2 norm, and various other norms of the error.

A Posteriori Error Estimation

2010
The error analysis for the Galerkin discretization exhibits the asymptotic conver- 3 gence rates for the boundary element method which depend on the regularity of the 4 underlying integral equation. These estimates are called a priori estimates because 5 they hold for large classes of problems which are characterized by their regular- 6 ity.

A posteriori error estimation

Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 1990
We present a summary of error estimation and adaptivity techniques and concepts. We also present the major types of refinement or adaptation strategies. In Section 3, we discuss the need for efficiency in large- scale, time-dependent problems and discuss recent effective local spatial and temporal adaptive strategies for these problems. We then discuss

A Posteriori Error Estimates for Nonstationary Problems

2016
We apply continuous and discontinuous Galerkin time discretization together with standard finite element method for space discretization to the heat equation. For the numerical solution arising from these discretizations we present a guaranteed and fully computable a posteriori error upper bound.
