Space-Time-Domain Decomposition for Optimal Control Problems Governed by Linear Hyperbolic Systems

open access: yesJournal of Optimization, Differential Equations and Their Applications, 2021
In this article, we combine a domain decomposition method in space and time for optimal control problems with PDE-constraints described in [2] to a simultaneous space-time decomposition applied to optimal control problems for systems of linear hyperbolic

A Posteriori Error Estimates for Pressure-Correction Schemes [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 2016
Summary: A posteriori error estimates for time discretization of the incompressible Stokes equations by pressure-correction methods are presented. We rigorously prove global upper bounds for the incremental backward Euler scheme as well as for the two-step backward differential formula method (BDF2) in rotational form.

Robust a Posteriori Error Estimates of Time-Dependent Poisson–Nernst–Planck Equations

open access: yesMathematics
The paper considers the a posteriori error estimates for fully discrete approximations of time-dependent Poisson–Nernst–Planck (PNP) equations, which provide tools that allow for optimizing the choice of each time step when working with adaptive meshes ...

Uniform Amorphization of Crystalline Silicon Surfaces Enabled by Deep Ultraviolet Femtosecond Laser Pulses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Deep‐UV (258 nm) femtosecond pulses enable uniform amorphous silicon writing on Si(100)/(111) with a six‐fold larger fluence amorphization window than NIR methods. Optimized fluence and overlap yield 20–45 nm uniform and continuous amorphous layers. Microscopy shows sharp interfaces, and real‐time reflectivity reveals nanosecond melt–resolidification ...

General Local Convergence Theorems about the Picard Iteration in Arbitrary Normed Fields with Applications to Super–Halley Method for Multiple Polynomial Zeros

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
In this paper, we prove two general convergence theorems with error estimates that give sufficient conditions to guarantee the local convergence of the Picard iteration in arbitrary normed fields. Thus, we provide a unified approach for investigating the

Dependence of the Analytical Approximate Solution to the Van der Pol Equation on the Perturbation of a Moving Singular Point in the Complex Domain

open access: yesAxioms, 2023
This paper considers a theoretical substantiation of the influence of a perturbation of a moving singular point on the analytical approximate solution to the Van der Pol equation obtained earlier by the author.

Sustainable Materials Design With Multi‐Modal Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Critical mineral scarcity, high embodied carbon, and persistent pollution from materials processing intensify the need for sustainable materials design. This review frames the problem as multi‐objective optimization under heterogeneous, high‐dimensional evidence and highlights multi‐modal AI as an enabling pathway.

A Generative Neuro‐Symbolic AI for Protein Sequence Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We introduce EffieDes, a neuro‐symbolic framework coupling deep learning‐based fitness landscape parameterization with exact automated reasoning. Unlike greedy sampling, EffieDes identifies sequences that globally optimize fitness while satisfying intricate design constraints.

Human‐Guided Bayesian Optimization Enables High‐Throughput Laser Annealing of Mesoporous SiOx Anodes for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An empirical‐aided active learning framework is developed to optimize high‐throughput laser‐induced photothermal annealing of silicon suboxide anodes. By integrating probabilistic machine learning with empirical domain knowledge, this approach achieves optimal electrochemical performance using limited experiments.

A finite element method for a two-dimensional Pucci equation

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mécanique, 2023
A nonlinear least-squares finite element method for strong solutions of the Dirichlet boundary value problem of a two-dimensional Pucci equation on convex polygonal domains is investigated in this paper.
