Complementarity based a posteriori error estimates and their properties
The paper studies complementary approaches in a posteriori finite element error estimation for a diffusion-reaction model problem. These approaches provide sharp and guaranteed upper bonds for the energy norm of the error and they are independent from the way how the approximate solution is obtained. Numerical tests are also discussed.

Calibrating Bayesian inference
Abstract Bayesian statistics has gained popularity in psychological research due to its intuitive uncertainty quantification and convenient information‐updating rules. In many applications, however, prior distributions are introduced merely as instruments to facilitate computation, rather than as representations of genuine subjective belief ...

Abstract Cognitive diagnostic models (CDMs) have become essential tools for providing fine‐grained information about individuals' mastery of cognitive skills. While prior reviews have emphasized statistical foundations and deep learning‐based developments, this article focuses on recent methodological innovations designed to address persistent ...

Revisiting reliability and measurement precision: Towards a unified perspective
Abstract This article revisits the concepts of reliability and measurement precision across classical test theory (CTT), item response theory (IRT) and cognitive diagnosis models (CDMs), emphasizing their conceptual differences and proposing a unified framework.

Abstract Traditional item response theory (IRT) models involve symmetric response probability functions, but a developing area of research has focused on asymmetric alternatives. To date, these studies have focused primarily on introducing new asymmetric models, detailing their mathematical formulations, explaining how to interpret their item ...

Abstract Measurement non‐invariance arises when the psychometric properties of a scale differ across subgroups, undermining the validity of group comparisons. At the item level, this manifests as differential item functioning (DIF), where item responses differ across groups after controlling for the latent trait.

Computing Skinning Weights via Convex Duality
We present an alternate optimization method to compute bounded biharmonic skinning weights. Our method relies on a dual formulation, which can be optimized with a nonnegative linear least squares setup. Abstract We study the problem of optimising for skinning weights through the lens of convex duality.

Abstract The long‐term and frequent sampling of groundwater monitoring networks is common practice for monitoring the concentrations of constituents of potential concern (CoPC) over space and time. Sampling can be a costly and time‐intensive process that also incurs health and safety risks. A redundancy‐based ranking of candidate sampling locations can

A-posteriori error estimators and RFB
We derive a posteriori bounds for the residual-free bubble (RFB) method for the solution of convection-dominated diffusion equations. Both linear functional error control and energy norm error control are considered. The implementation of a reliable and efficient $h$ adaptive algorithm is discussed.
