A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

Axisymmetric steady temperature field in FGM cylindrical shells with temperature-dependent heat conductivity and arbitrary linear boundary conditions

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2015
An approximate analytical solution to the axisymmetric heat conduction equation for a hollow cylinder made of functionally graded material with temperature-dependent heat conductivity is presented. General linear boundary conditions are considered.

Critical gravity on AdS2 spacetimes

open access: yes, 2011
We study the critical gravity in two dimensional AdS (AdS$_2$) spacetimes, which was obtained from the cosmological topologically massive gravity (TMG$_\Lambda$) in three dimensions by using the Kaluza-Klein dimensional reduction.

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Local approximation of DSGE models around the risky steady state [PDF]

open access: yes
A DSGE model takes the mathematical form of a system of nonlinear stochastic equations. Except in a very few cases, there is no analytical solution and economists are left using numerical methods in order to obtain approximated solutions.

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Inverse Prediction and Application of Homotopy Perturbation Method for Efficient Design of an Annular Fin with Variable Thermal Conductivity and Heat Generation

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2016
In the present work, various thermal parameters of an annular fin subjected to thermal loading are inversely estimated using differential evolution (DE) method.

Fractional D1-Branes at Finite Temperature

open access: yes, 2001
The supergravity dual of $N$ regular and $M$ fractional D1-branes on the cone over the Einstein manifold $Q^{1,1,1}$ has a naked singularity in the infrared.

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...
