The effect of trace additions of copper and pretreatment conditions on the filiform corrosion of powder‐coated aluminium alloy AA6060

Surface and Interface Analysis, 2019
This paper presents a short review of the literature data and the newest studies of filiform corrosion (FFC) testing of profiles extruded using a recycling‐friendly AA 6xxx aluminium alloy, with Cu content up to 0.09 wt%. As the pretreatment plays a significant role in avoiding FFC on powder‐coated aluminium profiles, the profiles were pretreated and ...

Influence of steam-based pre-treatment using acidic chemistries on the adhesion performance of powder coated aluminium alloy AA6060

International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 2017
Abstract In this study, the adhesion of a commercially applied powder coating on a steam treated AA6060 surface with pure steam and steam with citric and phosphoric acid chemistries has been investigated. Contact angle, roughness, and nanoscale pull off forces were determined as a function of the steam treatment prior to application of the powder ...

Protective properties of cataphoretic epoxy coating on aluminium alloy AA6060 modified with electrodeposited Ce-based coatings: Effect of post-treatment

Progress in Organic Coatings, 2015
Abstract Ce-based conversion coatings (CeCCs) are a promising alternative to toxic chromate coatings on the metal substrates. In this work the CeCCs were electrodeposited on aluminium alloy AA6060 from aqueous solution of Ce(NO3)3 at different potentials (−0.95 V, −1.2 V and −1.4 V).

Electrochemical behaviour of ZrO2 sol-gel pre-treatments on AA6060 aluminium alloys

2007
ZrO2 pre-treatments applied with the sol–gel technique are a possible replacement of chromium based pre-treatments on aluminium alloys. The thickness and homogeneity of the films deposited on AA6060 alloy are strongly related to the process parameters like preparation of the surface, number of dips and thermal treatment of the film.
