Anticorrosion Effect of Pineapple Peel Extract on Mild Steel in Hydrogen Sulfide Environment: Characterization, Optimization and Statistical Analysis via Response Surface Methodology

Corrosion rate decreased from 0.00548 to 0.00019 mg cm−2 h−1 with a corresponding inhibition efficiency of 95.5%. The optimal condition was obtained at 303 K and 1.0 g/L for temperature and concentration, respectively. Pineapple extract could be utilized for the inhibition of hydrogen sulfide corrosion.

Plantain peel biomass was carbonized, activated, and characterized using BET surface area and XRD. The XRD diffraction indicated crystalline structure with crystallite size of 14.56 nm evaluated through Debye-Scherrer equation.
