Dementia blood biomarkers in the context of post‐stroke cognitive outcomes: Systematic review and evidence synthesis

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION The prognostic value of emerging dementia‐related blood‐based biomarkers for post‐stroke cognitive impairment is poorly understood. We addressed this critical gap in this systematic review. METHODS Four databases were searched in March 2025 for studies of neurofilament light (NfL), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), amyloid ...

Elaboration of a Movement‐Based Signal in the Presence of a Predator

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
Predation is a driving force in biology and a key determinant of animal behaviour and important functional tasks have been shown to vary in response to changes in the perceived level of threat, including animal communication strategies. Common to all of these is a reduction in the likelihood of detection and/or to minimise exposure to predators.

Temperature Alters Specificity in a Host–Parasite Interaction

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
The Red Queen Hypothesis predicts that host–parasite coevolution maintains genetic variation through strong genetic specificity, but this specificity may be sensitive to environmental conditions. Using Meloidogyne arenaria and its parasite Pasteuria penetrans, we tested host–parasite interactions across three temperatures and found specificity at two ...

Large Deviations of the Giant Component in Scale‐Free Inhomogeneous Random Graphs

open access: yesRandom Structures &Algorithms, Volume 68, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT We study large deviations of the size of the largest connected component in a general class of inhomogeneous random graphs with iid weights, parametrized so that the degree distribution is regularly varying. We derive a large‐deviation principle with logarithmic speed: the rare event that the largest component contains linearly more vertices ...

Improved image reconstruction in coherent diffraction imaging using self‐seeded XFEL pulses

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 4, Page 904-912, July 2026.
This study demonstrates that the superior coherence of narrow‐bandwidth self‐seeded X‐ray pulses significantly improves the quality and reliability of image reconstruction in coherent diffraction imaging compared with conventional broad‐bandwidth SASE pulses.
